Kevin Keegan is rumoured to have resigned as Newcastle manager after showdown talks with the club's directors on Monday.
Markets on the first Premier League boss to leave his post this season have been withdrawn by many bookies after Keegan's odds tumbled.
Sky Bet's Dale Tempest said: "The rumour mill in the north-east is working overtime and the money has followed accordingly.
"The transfer deadline was simply a disaster for Newcastle, with no significant purchases, and we wait to see what Keegan's response is."
Dennis Wise, the executive director (football) at St James' Park, has already been installed as 4/1 favourite to take over as Magpies manager.
Keegan is reported - by the Daily Mail - to have been 'called into a 2pm meeting on Monday which club insiders described as 'very important but not related to transfer business' and it is believed a heated discussion took place, with managing director Derek Llambias making it clear they were not happy'.
(pentire @ Sep. 02 2008,20:18) Keegan leaves the Geordies again ?

I and a few other fans were discussing Kevin Keegan's future at out recent home game against Newcastle and we thought he would last till Christmas or at most till the end of the season but "THIS SOON"
Your got yer Mother in a whirl

Quote of the day has to belong to Peter Kenyon. "We didn't buy Robinho becasue we didn't want to pay over the odds"
This is the same cunt who paid 26 million for SWP, who Jose said he never wanted in the first place.
I still think he's a trojan horse from United. Trust me Dave he's probably more disliked at Chelsea than he is at Manchester United.
It's only a matter of time before Dubai launch a silly money bid for Liverpool now. So now we'll have the Americans, the Russians and the Arabs running the top clubs in England. Still good to see Thanksin remain on the City board. We all need a bit of humour now and again.
A little story to tell about Kevin Keegan again at the same match earlier this season
I sit in front of the "Away" dugout at my work at Old Trafford and about 4 rows behind me sit a group of 6 Sikh United fans whom have become pretty famous in their own right ( a few of them in pic 2 below).
They were all wearing white T-shirts with a picture of Kevin Keegans famous outburst against Sir Alex a few years back (pic 1 below)
Printed on them was "Welcome back KK, We just love it"
To his credit "Wor Kev" when asked if he could sign the shirts "pissed" himself laughing when he saw them and signed everyone

And we both know that is "Utter Bollocks" eh geezer
That "Twat" has had his nose put out of joint at last but hasnt the "bollocks" to admit Real Madrid would not (if they could help it) sell Robinho to Chelsea as they are one of their main rival's, its obvious and Real are the big winners in that transfer deal
I'm glad to hear Peter Kenyon is just as hated at Chelsea as he is here.
His "Antics" also stopped the tranfers of Robben and Essien from going to United
