you misunderstand my purpose..; i m not looking for any excuse..but provocation deserve a red card too( except if for you insulting the other player is part of football), in 2006 materazzi insulted Zidane sister and all his family...;yes Zidane deserve a red car but Materazzi too..that what i mean by the referee mistake..during this world cup final and nothing else(dommy6 @ Nov. 21 2009,08:13)What? are you saying Zidane didnt deserve a red card after the head butt? And please dont use the provocation excuse as a reason. But your right all countries have their sob stories.(huanzhen @ Nov. 20 2009,05:43) ever if the referee does a mistake when he red card Zidane in 2006 during france/italy world cup final
Bad luck Ireland I cant see FIFA ordering a replay. This is one of many refeering mistakes. You can bet that linesman and ref will be on the sideline for a while.Comment

i live in london and every single english person i know would like to have seen the irish win.(travis bickle @ Nov. 19 2009,16:21)
I dont think those England "fans"whose favourite chant is "no surrender to the IRA "would have been cheering Ireland on.Anyway,Ireland left the fields with their heads held high ,unlike Henry.
Of course some cunts sing no surrender to the ira just as some cunts shoot pizza delivery boys in the back of the head.“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”

Don't take this the wrong way but obviously English is not your first language. But in you original post and you can see clearly above it read like the referee made a mistake in red carding Zidane. Anyway so we agree Zidane deserved a red card.
As for provocation, I cannot really agree it should be entirely punished. Sledging in sport is rampant. I understand racial comments are not tolerated anymore and perhaps that should extend to sexual slurs towards family members/girl or boyfriends etc. My point is this happens frequently and when it's game over shake hands and forget about it. Its not personal. And quite frankly I don't know why they still bother to sledge.
For the record this is from Materazzi version
When he tugged at Zidane's shirt, he said, the Frenchman had rounded on him with the remark "If you want my shirt that badly I'll give it to you at the end of the match".
Materazzi replied "I'd prefer your whore of a sister", using the Italian word "puttana", meaning whore or tart. "I thought the words were slightly different,
He has publicly apologized to Zidane
According to him mother was not mentioned. I don't believe Zidane has ever given his version nor apologized. Correct me if I am wrong.
