Well if they come up against France they will be fooked, they couldn't even beat them in the rugby world cup, and I believe the All Blacks are supposed to be quiet good at that game.

As regards the spud farmers, I won't even get started on the nervous sheep in your neck of the woods.

i know it`s called "the world cup"but ten years ago the top two from the european groups went through then the p.c. brigade came in and decided that africa and asia should have more teams at the finals at the expense of the european nations so now the team at the top goes through and second goes into a play off so instead of ireland and russia going we get no hope minnows like new zealand,north korea and algeria!!

Fifa are rotten to the core, all this BS about England bidding for a world cup, wot complete bollox. Africa could have a major disaster a week b4 the world cup & England could hoist it the following week, the stadium in the UK are that good.
Look at the last European Championships in Germany, some grounds (from memory) held 26,000, not even close to being big enough.

Sap Batler is a cont & as a Green blooded Irish man, I can say hand on heart England deserve the world cup to be held here, without England We would have no football !

The twat only got the job years ago because Horst Dassler form Addidas pulled the strings, on the pretence that blatter would be his puppet! Bad decision as blatter is still in post

Although going out the way Ireland did is a bitter pill to swallow, the FAI have embaressed themselves a bit by demanding a replay. That was never going to happen, and if it was agreed to by FIFA, can you imagine the can of worms it would open. World Cup 1986 being replayed because of Maradona's hand of God, Man Utd first premiership glory being nul and void because of the 15 hours and 27 mins injury time until they got a winner against Sheffield Wed., etc etc etc...

IMO, what this contreversy has done, is add fuel to the argument for a rugby type video referee to look at these major decisions, and make a decision the referee may not be able to make. It has always been and always will be a contentious issue, but when you consider what is at stake, it might just be the only way forward.

Bad luck Ireland I cant see FIFA ordering a replay. This is one of many refeering mistakes. You can bet that linesman and ref will be on the sideline for a while.

This is football - footballers cheat...why the big fuss? Par for the course in that sport

Video technology works very well in international rugby union. For 4 or 5 key decisions every match, there is a 1 min delay. Cannot see any reason at all why that could not be used at top level football matches
