The UK isnt in the Euro so Merkel doesnt effect us directly.

what i meant was that Merkel does not set the fiscal agenda for the UK and so although we are affected indirectly it is just that.. not direct. he quoted the term

Tourorot post was stating that maybe we are ruled by some kind of Stasi i assume. Not the case im afraid .In not going to write a two thousand word essay on this subject anyway , it not as if its an Oxford entrance exam

What I was attempting to say is "that some have never met more police & government intrusion & oversight (like the Stazi) that they didn't like. UNTIL they come for them.... Not that Europe was ruling the UK.

Also Merkel has her powers sapped after last nights vote. The Bunderstag have to vet her every next move and EMU will be a busted flush by this time next year if they are not very carefull . As lines of  economic causality are concerned the Russian turning the gas off are a bigger worry than Germany. My bet is that Germany wont do anything and let the rot set in the Euro.

I remember a famous Frenchman who stated that when the EU was formed that all French Farmers would become rich Germans and most  Germans would become poor Frenchman. One supposes that you could insert the word " Italian or Spanish etc etc by this time next year but British i think not

Germany (the suckers who pay for most of this EU nonsense) are in danger of having a contracting manufacturing economy pretty soon.

It won't belong before the Jerrrys themselves start to distance themselves from an EU because of what is happening economically and politically on the domestic front.

Half of the decisions the EU are making now are trying to fix past decisions. the other half of what they do is simply to cover it up!

The EU is nowhere bound...

If the Scots (God bless 'em!) can have a referendum on staying in the UK then it seems only fair that the UK should have a say about it's membership to the Nazi EU.

Britain may not be in the Euro - but where are most of the banks run from (actually I am sure a lot of banks would like to know that answer as well )

Its inevitable that GB Inc. will have to dip its hand in to fund some other face saving programme at some point. Actually makes paying for sick buffalo look like an attractive option - at least you could eat it if treatment does not work. Still its very encouraging (not) that while Europe slides towards an Abyss the powers that be at an EU level have decided to increase their funding budgets while everyone at a country level is trying to reduce theirs.

Cameron won't give the UK a referendum as he (needs a job after the next election in an EU quango) knows what the result would be and has been convinced by the civil service that its not something that the British people should vote on. Having said that, this should come as no surprise I am convinced the parties are all so caught up in trying to show who is the more centre focussed rather than the old 'Right wing', 'left wing' and 'who cares' (as they would never get into power lot aka the Liberals).

I dont understand how the Germans can put up with paying for the "lazy" Southern Med countries. Yeah Greeks can retire at 45 (hyperbole but you get my drift) and the Germans get to pay for it!!! How can I get a deal like THAT?? I ask the question but us New Yorkers send Millions per year to Southern states like Alabama and mississippi!!! go figure....

Judging by the standard of EU integrity, and ability to manage (waste) 'our   ' money, prime candidates for their future key executive jobs should be Berlusconi and Sepp Blatter.  On second thoughts, Berlusconi's spending plans probably match mine in Nana Plaza, so there would be compensations  

Or maybe they will get Thaksin as Chief Economic adviser?  Or someone totally incompetent - such as that buffoon Gordon Brown (who I didnt trust right from the start in 1997) or his hired thug Ed Balls.

I really do sympathise with the German people, and with Merkel (who I rate, but she has a real poisoned chalice now).  I reckon the results on the UK will be direct.  Despite not in the Eurozone, UK is a key member of EU and will end up paying a high price for being part of the 'federal' underclass ...

The Politicians keep putting off the day of reckoning when the Euro collapses. Just reading the financial pages its not if but when. Every day is another nail in the coffin...27 different Countries is a step to far in decison making..

The west is in decline anyway so maybe the process will just be speeded up a bit , this is the harsh reality
