  • INFORMATION: Your time is up!

A few recent court decisions and a flurry of rather speculative patent lawsuits have prompted me to wonder how long we will have access to the WWW as we have it now and also how far companies will go to stifle innovation and progress.

Today BT (the largest ISP in the UK) have been ordered to block a site which is providing links to movies and music, etc.

    The story is HERE!

Of course there are thousands of other sites to go to if you want free movies and music and a myriad of ways to access the blocked ones.

Also in the news are the stories of the wave of small companies who are claiming that the big companies (Apple, Samsung, et al) are stealing their ideas that they 'patented' years ago. And the big guns are also gunning for each other.

Computer companies, phone companies, film studios and internet service providers (lage and small) are all coming out shooting and being shot at...

Lawyers, of course, are cleaning up but what lies ahead of this monstrous and expensive attack on 'information.'

I can see the internet being locked down over the next ten years with everyone in fear of their livelihoods, reputations and financial accountability.

Of course there is no way to prevent people sharing their files. It doesn't have to be done on line... but even the internet citizens have started forming very security conscious tight knit communities, groups and forums...

So what's next for the internet and the way we get our online fixes of music, porn and movies?

    Any ideas?
    I'm really Sexist...

Many Companies balance profit is generated by IPR and i notice that Revlon alone have around 60,000 patents. BT have around 25,000 and thats not including Design Rights and Copyright

Without IPR you wouldnt have  any innovation as its pointless if some other bugger can steal it for free. One reason why live music has come back is due to the internet pilfering of albums.

The USA will be clamping down more heavily on Internet Copyright and i notice that even Film blogs are in the firing line now. providing even a link to illegal materiel will mean you could get hauled up soon .
