I doubt if Kurzweil believes that , if he did then he wouldnt be in this post would he. And nor do i..we just evolved from Bacteria 3.5 billion years ago. Simple

Dont see any evidence of an eternal self, i can just remember when i was 5 years old and not beyond that. The Universe is only 13.7 Billion years old and i wasnt around then or before. Humans come from the left over carbon atoms forged in dead stars and a few other chemicals. ... no mystery there. Well not as far as im concerned

that partly what Kurzweil is banking on, advances in technology at an exponential rate including stem cell technology which will will pretty important if he wants to get to the brain download date . or maybe it will be other kind of celltech as stem cell research is constantly hampered by the Creationists and other Religious loonies
