I do not dislike the U.S., this is my home and it's where most of the people and places that I love are. For better or worse, this place has shaped me and there is nothing I can do to change that.
What I hate are bullies, thieves, liars and mass murderers. I hate the empire and I hate the LIES that necessarily go along with maintaining a brutal, corrupt system of global oppression.
Mr. Assange has done us all great service by showing the world just how duplicitous, hypocritical and self serving this beast really is. I'm sure it's not just "the left" here, but all over the world people are saying, "see, we told you they cannot be trusted, ever . . ."

I switched back to adsl2+ & dumped the wireless... using TPG ... solid service... I'm a bit away from the exchange and using an cheap modem/router so my peak speeds are only about 4Mbit.

JA did not hack or steal or blackmail anyone to get this information. It was passed, generally speaking by disgruntled whistle-blowers. He simply published it. How many governments DO hack and steal and blackmail for the same information?

Those that continue to maintain that Assange is a terrorist just aren't reading the same facts. They probably got that information from Fox News.

Open your eyes and ears people. This guy may not be "filtering" to the degree you'd like, but that's the whole point. If the various world governments only classified information that truly needed it to protect national security, none of this would be an issue. Instead, they routinely secure all information about their practices to avoid having to be accountable to their populace and the rest of the world. Assange is merely a conduit to allow us all to have access to the information that rightfully belongs to us in the first place. We are paying for these governments. They supposedly work on our behalf. Shouldn't they be as opaque and transparent as possible. They should be open to scrutiny, not hiding behind closed doors lest the people they work for ever find out what they really think or do....

Stop reading the bullshit and buying the propaganda. It's at least as cooked-up as I expect the rape charge will turn out to be.

Perhaps Amazon deemed it to be bad press to be associated with wiki leaks at this juncture.... they aren't everyone's cup of tea after all.

The "math" is that they are currently selling a book on Wikileaks leaks. Still it's woken up at least a few as to the real insecurity of "cloud" computing.

Yeah and I think Amazon and Paypal might have regrets about their hasty decisions sooner than later.
I have been reading the two most right wing papers in Australia over the last few days. Both Murdoch papers, one being the Sydney Daily Telegraph (I read it for the rugby league, honest!) and Murdochs flagship and proudest accomplishment, The Australian.

Both editorials blast the Labour government (not unusual in its self) for failing to protect JA's rights to be judged before being assumed guilty. Most of the columnists are of the opinion that free speech is being impunged, and that wikileaks has generally been of benefit. The common theme is the Prime Minister and Attorney General were out of line to make public comment to the effect that he was gulity of something, although exactly what continues to elude them. And most (more than 50%) assign any illegal undertaking to the leakers or whistle blowers and back JA's right to publish.

There is definately the stench of underdog as hero in most of the aussie papers and also the letters to the editior.
Now I guess some of that is to be expected: He is a home town boy.
But the fact that he is getting sympathy from the right wing media in Aus astonishes me.
