This is an absolutely perfect news story..... it has everything: a story arc, conflict, an amazing getaway, sex, a big police raid.... there have to be producers all over Hollywood now furiously calling this guy to get his story. I see Adam Sandler or maybe Will Farrell in it (maybe Adam can be fucking Will when the police storm the house, William Macy is the secrely gay police sargent.....)

Must have been his time of the month!!! About time more passengers were done for safety issues. As soon as the AA flight hits the deck in Hkt or Bkk there's a mad rush to grab bags, phones, push forward etc and the fekkin plane's still in motion. I wish the Capt would stop the plane til everyone settles down again. It wouldn't bother me as I have longer legs than most of the fekkers and pass them in the concourse anyway.
I couldn't give a shit how long it is until you're next holiday- I live here

I watched this on BBC news this morning , cracking open a beer and taking off down the emergency slide is a stylish way to quit a job

Fair play to the guy, people are far too rude now days .

On side note I didn't know American cops were allowed in with tattoos
Free your mind and your ass will follow .

BODOG.com has made the odds that flight attendant Steve Slater took OVER 1.5 beers at +120 odds and -150 UNDER 1.5 beers.

BODOG.com has made the odds that Steve Slater will be sentenced to jail at +300 odds and -500 odds that he€™ll see no jail time.

Sorry boys this guys a jerk. Its only a 2 hour flight from Pitts to New York and he lost it what would this idiot do on a Lax to Bkk flight and the 14 hour non stop to Tai Pai.
A real pretty sight opening the door at 36,000 feet with a couple of beers in his hand after the old chinese lady tells him to fuck off.

I have a friend who is a flight attendant for United and she says you just have to bite your tounge sometime unless its one of those situations were the police will meet the passenger upon arrival.

The newest development in this story is he was drinking on the job, had the gash from before the incident and started the incident.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Ah... Sounds like the Corporate HR/PR spin machine is functioning correctly... some 25 year old yoof with a MA in BS with no CDF is trying to manipulate the sympathy of the audience... very ham-fisted.

Remember: HSE departments are not there for your safety, they are there to lay blame onto individuals and away from the company should things go tits up, and

HR departments are there to find legal ways to sack you cheaply and without litigation. Wonderful world we live in huh?

Technically its possible although I don't know the type of plane it was, how long ago its service has been and if there has been something built in to prevent that.

I do remember hearing about planes with hijackers where they robbed the passengers and opened the door and were going to jump off the plane with a home made parachute when the flight attendant kicked him off the plane and the hijacker fell to his death!

                            Here's the story: http://www.nytimes.com/2000....ls.html

So if they could open the door, that'd be very dangerous, and at 36,000 feet, you'd have instant decompression, anyone not wearing a seatbelt is asking for trouble, but really though with a near vacuum outside, people would be seriously bloodied up by bursting blood vessels. It wouldn't be a nice day for anyone on board even if they did survive it miraculously.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

I have been in the biz for over 20 years and its IMPOSSBLE to open the door at altitude!!!! The pressure is just too great. By the way, people say you get "sucked out" of the A/C well thats dead wrong. You get PUSHED OUT and the pressure INSIDE the cabin is much greater than the pressure outside at over 30,000 feet. If it could be done, dont you think Al Qeada would ahve done this numerous time already???

As far as biting your tongue thats very true. But my tolerence level for nonsense onboard has markedly DECRAESED the last 5 years. Pay eviscerated, work rules gutted, seniority lost, less staff doing more, the company wanted to take EVEN MORE and the list goes on and on. Have to say MOST of the people are fine and arent a problem but theres plenty of fucktards out there that act so stupid and give you so much grief its untrue.

People say lets go back to what flying used to be, pretty stewardesses, half empty planes, plenty of legroom, multi course meals etc.. Lets remember, back then, flying was probably 10 times more expensive then. People dressed up and acted completely differently.

Also people always bring up foreign carriers, especially the Asian ones. Most foreign carriers ahve the backing (financially) of their respective govts.. If you look at the staffing at Thai or Singapore THEY will staff a 777 with AT LEAST 15 F/As while United staffs it with 11. Think about that. A Thai F/A probably is making OVER 70,000 baht/month and upwards to 100,000!!! Think about THAT!!! A wage of 80,000/ month in Thailand FFS!!!! Thats what an average stew might make for a major in the US of A. Some make more but a lot make A LOT LESS. Thats living in America folks. The majors dont exactly have its bases located in the cheap areas of the country either. They are located in places like: New York, Chicago, San Fran and LA......Just saying....

BTW the guy is NOT getting his job back. JetBlue are non union and the company can do whatever it wants. The guy was wrong but the company has a base on Long Beach and his mom is supposedly dying of cancer in So Cal. he asked for an emergency transfer to So Cal and they flat out denied him. Tough shit I guess. Theres no reason why that should ahve happened if the company had any kind of a heart........
