(lblavr @ Jul. 22 2010,09:40) ...their sick religion...
Islam = the religion of peace.

Which should actually be read as:-

Peace will come when all the world is converted to Islam
Those that will not convert are all to be killed.
The exception is the 'Children of the Book' - Jews & Christians.
If they will not convert they can be allowed to live as dhimmis - slaves.

Don't believe me? Do a little reading.

Ban burqas? - I think they are banning the wrong thing.

    RR.
Pedants rule, OK. Or more precisely, exhibit certain of the conventional trappings of leadership.

As long as you didn't have a weapon to go along with it, you'd be thought of as a clown?

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

I hate it on my intermittent trips to the Uk ( haven't been to Canada since 1985 so not sure what it's like there now) to be greeted by someone I can't see who asks for my passport! Thankfully with the new electronic ones I don't have to have any human contact. Also immigration officials not upsetting the religious sensitivities of their 'clients' by not geting them to lift the veil- a MALE murderer gt out of the country last year using this ruse. WHilst I'm all in favour of religious freedom I have always been a detractor of positive discrimination in all its forms.
I couldn't give a shit how long it is until you're next holiday- I live here

                      Hmm, Anthony, when you say
or having to look at the ugly cunt thats underneath.?

The problem is that the best looking Arab women are stunning by any standard, their faces are covered so as not to inflame man's desire which is really the problem that is being supposedly dealt with through various degrees of concealment -not that it stops men across Arabia pestering women with their phone numbers etc. I guess as they get older the wrinkles set in but there is nothing specific to Arab women getting older and less attractive, its a universal hazard.

The security issue is exaggerated -few veiled Arabs object to airport or other security checking their face id with their passport, it is actually unusual and probably a lapse for a man to 'escape' whilst wearing a burqa.

Orthodox Jewish women also try to cover up as much as they can which means in Israel you can walk down the same street and see a 20-something who could be on the cover of Vogue and her 'sister' who is wrapped up in scarves and woollen socks etc and is better suited to Pensioner's Digest.

Its all supposed to lower our libido so we don't cause chaos by trying to pull all those women...and I guess the fun of it is not knowing precisely what you will find of you get a chance to pull back the covers.

Its not important, guys, let it go, there are more important issues out there.

most of the woman wearing it are not Arabs in the UK ,they are from Bangla or Pakistan. Maybe in France they are Algerian .

you walk around the streets of Whitechapel and you think you are in Mecca. As i said before, parts of London do not even remotely belong in Europe anymore.

The multi- culteral crowd can go and drown themselves for all i care. If they dont like European ways then fuck off back to the Desert or whatever shithole they come from

i actually saw my first one this morning on the estate i live on.
my area is quite a BNP area, so it was a surprise.
(bnp got voted in, then they had a recount to make it so it was void. she was a single mum called sharon).
                              anyway,
the burkha passed me going into the papershop.
i asked, "why would you wear that around here.?"
                              no reply.

it is fuckin horrible to see.
a bit like in the film "ghost" when the black ones take the baddies away.
                              you cant polish a turd.

I do not trust the Muslims 1 bit but I have to answer your comment in a way that you may not like but hopefully there's room for a flip side to the coin.

My experience with Muslims is strange. I used to work in World Trade Center building #7, 31st floor. That should be enough to say what I went through. To add to that, we used to have some neighbors who were Afghans, who had gained political asylum in 1991. 1 morning I visited my parents home and was surprised to find the FBI raiding my neighbors house. As we later found out, they would have their asylum canceled and be deported back because they were sending money into terrorist organizations. I hate Bush but I have to admit, the Patriot Act had done its job.

But since someone on this forum mentioned in a pointless thread, that 35% of New Yorkers are foreign born.. I am one of them so I have a different perspective. You really want to know why they don't integrate? It has nothing to do with religion, ok well maybe it does but not to the degree you think. I once read a book I think it was Readers Digest during the 80's and one particular chapter intrigued me. I haven't forgotten it in 20-23 years. It was written by an Indian author who had gone to live in Russia in the 70's shortly after Russia and India formed a mutually beneficial defensive pact to be partners to counter the threat of the Americans since Nixon couldn't stand Indira Gandhi and he basically demolished the relationship that Nehru had formed with Eisenhower and Kennedy.

Anyways he took his wife and his kids there and a lady came into their house and gave them an orientation (pretty much like college freshmen are given of what is expected of them if they want to stay in school) of how they were expected to live in Russia. This is how they would have to work and they would not be celebrate any festivals from their home country, no noise, no disagreements allowed, schools for their children would be free, another girl would come size the kids up for uniforms, what not, any problems or they'd be deported back. Once the person knew what was expected, he had no problem fulfilling the requirements and actually enjoyed his stay there.

The immigrants to the west are not given an orientation. They're not even given an English test. In fact I know 1 US Citizen, who uses the F train here in New York and can't even read the alphabet. How does he know which train to get on? 1 stick and 2 crossing sticks. Also in common day environment they encounter racism. Lets face it.. it exists. Want an example? My father gave a homeless guy some food and some kids candy (the good sized snickers and kit kat bars) on Halloween, after they had gotten it, they yelled racist profanities. People are really ungrateful sometimes and bottom line we decided to be less charitable in the future. I mean why throw our money away when I'm sure with rising taxes we can use it to pay them instead of someone that'll curse us. But that's my family we're talking about.

However with the average person who speaks very little English.. they tend to resort back to people of their kind and start being prouder of their religion. Many go much further and become violent or start listening and believing in violent propaganda and end up becoming terrorists.

Who's to blame? Well if you're looking for the truth, you and they are equally to blame. I have said many times we're xenophobes. But a simple government program of Orientation and requirements of what is expected and grades before someone gets citizenship would be a huge help. Would it help completely get rid of the burkha problem? No, but it would sure tone it down so that you wouldn't feel you're in Mecca. And they would fit in more.

An analogy to what I'm saying is something along the lines of, if kids don't go to school, they won't be useful members of society. They won't be doctors, teachers, artists, scientists. They will end up being low lives in hoodies looking to mug someone. And then the threat from them and the burkha/ extremist muslim ideology is the same.

                                Just food for thought.
