I know exactly what I would do with one - read. Sitting in bed balancing a laptop on my knees gets tiresome after a while.

I have so many sites I visit every day as part of my ritual that I would love something as light & convenient as an iPad to replace the lappie.

Once Apple increases its functionality, no one will have any excuse not to own one.

Not even Azza...  the blunt bastard...

You are talking to a tech junkie here.

This thing is a dinosaur cos it wasnt done right - simple as that.

It is an obsolete device with limited functionaility and plenty of better options in the market.

Only reason it sells is because it has an Apple logo attached.

Apple needs to be careful, the iphone is past its used by date, with many other better options are currently available, and like i said the ipad looks great but thats about it.

Of course DT may disagree but he is bias due to equity exposure and thus is banned from giving opinion

While some people may like it, I can't see myself getting one. Non- replaceable battery, currently unable to multitask, I am better off with my Sony Vaio, which weighs just 1.93 kg.

On a serious note, what alternative is there to an iPad, and I mean the full package.

I completely agree that Apple doesn't always or perhaps never go all the way and doesn't include features they should, like being able to use a webcam or hooking it up to an external HD, etc.

I also do not like the way they are handling the current iPhone dilemma.

I just think that the iPad would/will be great for reading newspapers and mags, watching videos and podcasts and doing some other more serious work on it. And it is fairly light to be carried around.

But I somehow envy people like PD, etc. who really do not need those gadgets and still live very happily. Well, I do as well but there is this itch ;-)

But I do have bad news for PD. The 18,- Baht wafers at Friendship supermarket seem to be on their way out. They are not in the shelves any longer and there is just a pile left near the cash registers
