I think this was the article i read Lefty...the study was done on Hispanic groups it appears. Anyway it seems to show that not enough or to much may be bad news

where's the "I have no pattern" pattern choice? if i have to get up early, i get to bed on time, if i don't, then fuck it. some nights 11 hours, some none. the trickiest part is the shift when in LOS between the days i have to get up early for a round of golf and the nights my ladyboy-du-jour (de nuit?) has me get up late for another round.

I have fucking sleep issues. If I'm not heavily baked then I'm not sleeping.
I usually sleep from around 11:00 until 6:00 on a good night. A lot of times though I wake up around 4 and just toss and turn until 7:00, or unitl I say "fuck it, this is pointless" and just get up.
Ambien does not work for me.

Being part of the rat race to support all my habits, I work like a dog 8-4 pm. Sleep from 10 pm-5 am.
When is Asia, it usually shifts forward 6 hours so sleep starts after evening activities at 3 am and sleep to about 9 am. Like someone else said earlier, can only keep that pace up for so long before it wears on you and then it is time to go back to working like a DOG.

doesn't that suck when you are lying in bed at 4 or 5 am and you only have 5 hours sleep and you know that isn't enough, but bills and other problems and just LIFE in general is knocking at your brain and you can't get back to sleep?? Sucks man, happened to me last night....which means tonight I will sleep like a baby zzzzzzzzzzz

Ambien works for me but leaves a massive headache the next day, same as Tylenol PM.......try Valium @ 10mg's but be careful not to get dependent on them where you need them every night to sleep; insomnia is better than addiction.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

That article said if you sleep too little or too much, it can make you gain body fat. Nothing about getting less than 6 hrs a night shortening your life expectancy.

I think back to all the lifestyle questions the life insurance companies ask you before giving you life insurance. Height and weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. I have not seen any of them ask that I recall, average hours of sleep per night or body fat pct, which to me is more critical than weight.

I start work at 7am & it can take me near on two hours to travel depending on where in London the job is, so I can get up most mornings at 5am the latest. This means I am one sad cont & am in bed between 21:00 & 21:30

Lefty, the article i pasted was after searching the New Scientist Website. I dont think it was the originalk article in print although i will attemp to dig it out.

My interest in this mainly due to the fact that i have attended sleep apnea clinics for a problem that i have

however im pretty sure that most studies point to what i outlined
