I notice that when I stay in the states I usually go to bed around 11 or 12 and get up 8 hours later; there's fuck-all to do around here late at night and if I wake up too late I feel like I have missed the whole day and nothing ever gets accomplished.

In Asia or on any long holiday, it's more like the 4 or 5am deal, and getting up at noon or later....why get up when it's fucking 92 degrees out and you're just gonna stay in your A/C room anyway?  Plus all the good shit always happens late at night; staying up until 4am, 5 or even sunrise means you never miss the fun stuff.

to a point. That 4am gig is fun for a few days..but if you're there for a few weeks or month/s it gets old real quick.

I'm a vampire without a doubt. My usual sleeping pattern would be going to bed between 6 to 8am and waking up at around 12 to 2 pm, so in and around 6 hours sleep in the morning.

The reason for this is I play alot of poker and cash games dont start in my nearest casino until midnight. I think this year alone I've played 460 hours of live poker, and about a third of that online.

If I ever have to do something in the morning, like last week I had a doctors appointment in Dublin, I just stay awake and dont bother going to bed, so sometimes I dont sleep for 2 or 3 days.

Anything under 6 and half hours during your working life and you are heading for the graveyard before 65 , thats pretty well known. There are exceptions but they aint the rule

( re edit; sorry , there was a US University that published a study on sleep and life expectancy around 2 months back... so its isnt that well known, if someone wants it ill dig it out)

Anyway i get around 6 hours .. so its the early grave for me then

when I stay in     I keep these hours.....I usually see the sunrise and then sleep until 2 or 3, hell it's too hot to do anything outside anyway. April and May were absolutely brutal this year.

Are you doing well enough at Poker to make a living Whore?

            No "real'' gig??

I do alright at the poker. On a good week I can win the best part of 3 or 4 thousand euro. I dont really have bad weeks as I am very strict on what I spend. I buy into all games for 200euro and if I lose it I leave plain and simple. Most other people reach into the wallet again but not me.

I play tuesday, wednesday and thursday nights in my local casino. If I win over 2000euro on those two nights I hit the casinos in Dublin on a friday and saturday night. I never lose in Dublin but I never win big.

I play with a guy who is tipped in all the poker mags to win a bracelet at this years WSOP in vegas.

Very few real gigs in Ireland anymore.

No real pattern of sleep but I get at least 10 hours a day. I usually have one good 6 hour sleep and two naps also.

I get by with only 6 hours of sleep usually. Sometimes less but I catch up on the weekends.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

We Euro-Queers over here have an easy life:

At home, get up at 7:00 and go to bed at 00:00 (although I often stay up late and sleep late too).

Then going to LOS... well, the time difference is 5 or 6 hours, so sleeping until 13:00 in the LOS is the same as getting up at 7:00 in Europe, and watching the sun rise at 6:00 would be 00:00 in Europe...

                        That's how I avoid jetlag.

IMO, there are a lot more likely things to send you to an early grave before 65 than sleeping only 6 hrs a night. Such as smoking, excess drinking, diet, being overweight and/or lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle.

I sleep 9 to 5am at work and would love to do the same at home.... the air is sweet in the morning, the palms and hibiscus far more colourful at 7am in LOS than in the glare and heat haze of midday. It really is the best part of the day. It's not sweaty, its a good time for beah walking.

Shame I miss it more often than not.
