Remember next time you get stopped in Sunnee Plaza by the BiB tell them you were looking for someone to carry your bags.
As one comment stated he has a slight suggestion of Ned Flanders about him.

Remember next time you get stopped in Sunnee Plaza by the BiB tell them you were looking for someone to carry your bags.
Rekers is a Christian Right minister and a prominent speaker against gay relationships. He works for an organisation called the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (shortened to the appropriately cheerless acronym NARTH), which publishes 'scientific' evidence to show that gay lifestyles can damage your long-term health. He has been an 'expert witness' opposing gay couples wishing to adopt children. Yes, George Rekers disapproves of homosexuality all right.
Unfortunately, this week he was caught returning from a 10-day European holiday with a 20-year-old boy named Lucien. Rekers reportedly found his companion on a website called rentboy.com (sometimes provocatively-named sites turn to be much more innocent than they sound, but not in this case). He claims that he did not engage in sex with his young travel-mate, but, on the contrary, spent time teaching him about the evils of homosexuality, as part of his program of 'spending time with sinners'. And Rekers added that he only took Lucien on holiday so that he could help with the luggage, because he's had surgery recently and struggles with carrying bags.
As excuses go, this is as convincing as saying that you slept with your mate's wife 'just to show her how bad infidelity is', or that you embezzled money from pension funds 'absent-mindedly'. It is quite likely then that George Rekers is a homosexual. It's extraordinary to think that he has spent most of his adult life trying to preach against this very persuasion. Of course as an evangelist believing the literal truth of the Bible, he's within his rights to be bigoted; but why make gayness his target, if it is such an area of guilt for him? Why not harass someone else, prostitutes or alcoholics perhaps, and cough loudly and change the subject when sex is on the agenda?
It makes you wonder whether other people's outspoken views are really just a cover for compromising lifestyle choices. Maybe Richard Dawkins secretly believes in God, and is just going to extraordinary lengths to hide it from his admirers in the scientific community. Maybe Barack Obama believes in an unequal society with oppression of minority groups, and the only way he could conceal it was to become President and fight against these things. Who knows, perhaps Noel Edmonds is strongly opposed to giving away sums of money concealed in boxes, and the whole history of 'Deal Or No Deal' is an elaborate bluff.
What seems certain is that Rekers is going to be fairly keenly scrutinised next time he goes on a weekend break with 'a couple of mates' to 'help him collect his breakfast from the buffet' and 'put the key in the hotel door for him'. It might almost be worth going on his own. Or, of course, he could just come out. Then he'd be free to go to gay resorts without having to turn up and say things like 'well, I never realised a bar called Manpower would be that kind of place.'
It would certainly be a bit of a climbdown for a man who's made so much effort to turn other gay men straight. But hey- if you can't beat them, join them.
