It isn't Lefty's fault that Australia was dragged into several bad wars. Hell, if more guys like Lefty were in the Pentagon, not even America would have invited themself into what was a civil war in Vietnam.

As for Iraq & Afghanistan, Guy is right, had we been given 'real' evidence & not been lead up the garden path by a bunch of neo-cons, then again commonsense would have prevailed & several thousand men would be alive today along with several trillion dollars not being wasted on another damaging conflict.

Then we have the roadkill & I have only one question - is it more correct to serve red or white wine with Opossum?

And if Foxxee is gonna get all narky about it...     he won't be invited...

Opossums aren't native to my part of the USA. The story as to how we got them goes back to the Great Depression. A lot of guys from Tennessee, Arkansas, etc came west to work in the CCC Camps and they kept Opossums in cages, sort of like rabbits and raised them as food. If someone made then into a stew and you were served it and didn't know what kind of meat it was, I'm told it tastes pretty good and you probably would eat it and enjoy it.

When WWII broke out a lot of those same boys went into the military straight from the CCC Camps and would turn their Opossums loose when they did.

That's how it was told to me years ago anyway.

It would not have been difficult to done a better job than that worthless JBJ and Robert Strange McNamara. To me, the Vietnam War being run like a major cluster fuck trickles back up to them.

I think re Iraq we had real evidence beforehand. BushCo just told the same lies so often that pretty soon it was taken as reality. I can say in my case I never once believed we had justification to invade Iraq. Going back to when BushCo first began throwing the idea out some months before it actually took place. I sat in my room in Yensabai Mansion and cringed as I watched it unfold on BBC. March 2003. Our congress was by and large too gutless to stand up to President Cheney and his Idiot Boy Dubya, for fear of being branded as unpatriotic.

I would vote for a good Australian red wine with our possum Paccie. Such as the one you were so kind as to share with me last trip you were here.
