Surely I can't be the first to note that your avatar's actually from Avatar . . .

God, what will ladyboys look like in the future?

Bigger?  Stronger?  Faster than ladyboys before . . . ?
Actually you are but I thought it'd be pretty obvious.

And what will lb's look in the future? I hope not anything like holly sweet though I could go for eva vortex if my choice was her or nothing.

There used to be a guy around here who had his avatar..

Seems pretty cheap in today's market
Oops did I steal someone's avatar? If its Jake1 that was me.. I just chose a different name for the vip phase. If not tell me I'll switch if its problematic.

And back to the topic at hand..

Kinda surprised no one mentioned chimichanga.

Another one of my fav's with a good

P.S. The reason I asked about durian is because they smell horrible but I've never actually had the guts to try one.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

What's the deal with all the food polls lately. You guys are seriously screwing up my weightloss program. Getting me thinking of a nice big, marblely, juicy porterhouse steak with blue cheese and baked potato with sour cream and chives...

Ah fuck...got to do another 50 push ups to get that out of my head.

        ezflip,

I don't really get this thread either but perhaps if we posted a photo of a "large poutine" it might end it.

The point of this thread was to share what we like to eat in our home country that is actually good food to those who don't know it, and maybe find out where we can find it while in los as shared by koykaeng

In hindsight probably shoulda named this thread, where to find food from back home food in los. Oh well.

As far as weight loss goes, just make sure you drink a lot of water. The body needs a lot more water than it does food, so as long as you give it that (I personally drink 3-4 glasses of water with every meal), it won't try to take nutrients out of food which in turn will keep your weight down.

My earlier post was an inside joke between exflip and myself. I rather enjoy reading the thread.

P.S. about the weight loss comment, I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I actually had been struggling with a few pounds for a while till someone told me about that water trick because I always ate right, exercised and am not lazy but until I did that.. I never saw long term results so hope that helps some of you.

Concure with the water trick. Drinking over 2l a day is a good start to shedding weight. I won't go into details of my diet as it is    but I have lost 20lbs (about 9kg) in the past 4 months. Maybe a seperate thread could be considered. After all, eating all these delicious foods...

As for the 'poutine', Québec favorite dish. French fries with squeeky cheese curds smothered in gravy.    There is a restaurent in Montreal where chef Martin Picard does his take on it with seared foie gras. It is said that just looking at it is enough to cause a stroke.

                      Jim,

For those who are unfamiliar with the Quebec phenomenon "poutine" the initial reaction to seeing it is usually the same as yours. However once you get passed the look and dig in, you'll be surprised at just how yummy it is. You can even find it in New York restaurants now. I usually smother it in ketchup also. :-)

All those good things said, poutine will kill you for sure if you eat it on a regular basis. Probably faster than cigarettes, booze, and drugs combined. Nonetheless , its' damn yummy!!!

I mostly like meat and meat products, as well as fish which tastes like meat (tuna, salmon).

My home countries are France and Germany.

                        yummy foodstuff from France:
                        - pâté de campagne aux oignons
                        - rillettes (d'oie et de canard)
                        - saucissons secs et rosette de Lyon
                        - sauce au beurre blanc
                        - sauce béarnaise
                        - cassoulet
                        - soupe aux oignons
                        - many yummy things there really

                        Germany:
                        - Schwarzwälder Schinken
                        - Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte
                        - Kirschsteuseltorte (rather simple, but I love it since I am a kid)
                        - Frankfurter Würstchen (damn they taste good)
                        - Thüringer / Nürnberger Würstchen
                        - Kasseler Braten
                        - Gegrillte Schweinshaxe
                        - Gegrillte "Leiterchen"
                        - Handkäs mit Musik
                        - Kartoffelpuffer mit Zwiebeln !!
                        - Bretzel & Weisswurt & Süsser Senf
                        - many yummy things in Germany too, but not so elaborate as in France, just yummy

ok, I'm hungry... *scoots off to the fridge *

                              Oh man, now ya talkin'...

I don't know about the "gegrillte" (grilled?) but the Roasted Schweinhaxe served from the oven with the meat melting off the bone is something worth trying.

Schweinhaxe is shoulder of pork & is a staple of German cuisine. The best I ever had was served up in that 16th century tavern in that popular square in the middle of Frankfurt.

I can't remember the name of the place but I will never forget the meal.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.
