  • Steve Sjuggerud's "DailyWealth" Investm.Newsletter

For quite some months now, I have been receiving Steve Sjuggerud's "Daily Wealth"-newsletter. It seems full of these typical hard-to-find exceptional investment deals.

The newsletter is more like a teaser, never giving the real names of the companies and the full details of the investment suggestions. However, they have just started to offer the full version for 5 bucks a month.

I'm normally quite skeptical when it comes to this kind of advertisement and promotion, on the other hand 5 USD are not the world if these research results might come up with some good investment ideas. Downside is that there is always that much to read, which makes me even more skeptical.

Have any of you subscribed to this newsletter or do you know more about it other than speculating that it must be a hoax ;-)

Here is the link of the research firm http://www.stansberryresearch.com/ and the link for that newsletter is almost on the very top for those who might wanna take a look.

If you're considering going that route check in with Hulbert Financial Digest rankings, they've been watching these for a long time.

I think it's important to understand one's investments rather than taking a tip from a newsletter.

So watching Bloomberg and clicking on Yahoo Finance everyday is a good start. Then you'll naturally find other places to visit if you find the markets fun.

As far as this newsletter, why would their analysts be any better than anyone else out there on the net? Plus, most of their recomendations are probably somewhat expenisve to buy if you're not American.

I can buy something on the NYSE for 8 bucks a pop, but my trding costs would be much higher if I wanted to buy something on the London Stock Exchange.

Wise words (as usual) from our investment pro on the forum ;-)

Let's talk about this over a cold Archer during the next few days.

        Thanks and cheers!

(Chinaman @ Apr. 08 2010,09:40) However, they have just started to offer the full version for 5 bucks a month.
Without knowing any more than what you have written here, if they value their advice at $5 per month, I think they are just chasing subscribers.

One similar investment service recently announced a 10 times increase in their subscription rate on the basis their information was being quoted by would-be financial experts as their own work.

But of course past success gives no guarantee against future failure. The market is being so manipulated by government agencies such as the Plunge Protection Team that second guessing their next move seems as good a plan as any.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

What a shame. Of course, I am well aware of what all of you said although there have been and hopefully will still be some interesting little details in your views.

Nevertheless I had hoped that someone would have come out with "Oh yes, I have followed them for xxx-time now and their advice has turned me into a (multi) mill-/billionaire. On second thought even if that were true, you might refrain from saying it openly on this (or any other) board and avoid having to ring the bell every time you get spotted by a fellow-bm in a bar.
(but just use the pm-function in that case and I will handle yr comment absolutely discretely )

No, seriously, because that newsletter must have millions of subscribers, I was actually hoping for statements which might have uncovered the scam-part ...

Here are a few tips, Doc is willing to post:
1....Do not take advice from others as in tips.
2....Do your homework on the investment.
3....Do not follow the heard. In other words go where others will not.

                  Pretty solid advice SD,

however, tips are ok as long as you follow point 2.
Never act on the tip alone, do your own research and if it warrants action
                  - take it.

It impossible to know everything by yourslef - so every now and then a tip may be worth pursuing.

                  A worthy trip report
