I was reading some article recently that posited that dreams and sleeping are required to re calibrate the neural network. dreams are like the electrical activity in your PC when you De- fragment , all the stored up memories are sifted into correct place so you can operate normally on waking. Otherwise the brain would stop functioning

As you get older you cant remember as well due to other factors and i think you also dream less , probably due to the fact that less to learn. One day is the same as the next for many or perhaps most.

(TTChang @ Mar. 15 2010,17:02) C'mon JD, what about the giant crab?  Don't disappoint by saying you made that up!
Not made up, although they never all happened in ONE dream!!

As far as I can remember....

But there are always weird and hard -to-figure things in my dreams, same as everyone; and people from my past who I have long forgotten, ex-girlfriends and work mates, etc....people I'd like to forget!!

Yes, I also dream in color also.....very often. As mentioned my dreams have been very vivid the past few years and oftentimes pretty wild; but only 2 or 3 nights a week, they don't happen all the time.

Am I the only one who finds that when we are running in a dream we can't get our legs to move, and that no matter how hard we try whatever it is that is chasing us will eventually catch up?? That has to be a metaphor for "something".

I used to have the back at School dream a lot , like every week . Nowdays i cant remember bugger all but i still have dreams where i know i am in the dream and can manipulate it. The flying around ones are the best , like Superman.

The thing is that as soon as you know you are in it is fizzles out quickly.

In the 70s dreaming was conenected with the Astral Plane and guys like Lobsang Rampa and other mystics wrote many books. on the subject . They were not that scientific but it was quite  taken quite serious at the time

In fact some where in the UK there is a experiment happening with near death experiences and sponserd by the Templeton Foundation , an organisation that is trying to bond science and the Supernatural (NDE is tied up with dreaming)

Some Scientists are actually on the payroll of the TFoundation

Exactly.....or you wake up and can't remember shit!

I wish I could bottle some of my dreams, save 'em and play them back on my DVD player during the day..... now THAT would be some entertaining viewing!

(kahuna @ Mar. 15 2010,06:51) The solution is simple JD...don't dream...

I haven't remembered a dream in many years...

I would rather have my dreams when I'm awake...
You dream, everyone does, but you don't remember them. Probably because you're so plastered every night that PD and I have to pack you back to the loom and put you to bed.

I put the whole experience down to cheap cider , my mum gave me a right slapping too
