Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere (blame the Search Engine not the Searcher) but what is the feeling regarding the situation in NI with all the goings on?

Now Iris Robinson - who declared that all homosexual acts were an offence to God, and I'm sure she at least would regard LB Lovers as homosexual - has been revealed as a toyboy shagging fraudster where does that leave the rest of the politicians.

I know there are a few BMs from the North on the forum and in England all we get is sanctimonious bollocks from the politicos - no change there!!!

Iris has been booted out of the DUP. Her husband Peter Robinson has left his position as NI first minister for 6 weeks until it is made clear he knew nothing of the fraud committed by his wife.

On top of all this you have Gerry Adams brother Liam wanted for sexually abusing his daughter.

At all seems pretty normal NI politics to me.

She actually went a lot further than that , she was quoted live on radio referring to homosexuality as an abomination .

In the House of Commons during a debate on child abuse she was quoted as saying "There can be no worse act apart from homosexuality and sodomy than child abuse "
When taken to task on those remarks she put foot in it deeper by claiming that she was misquoted and what she meant was the act of sodomy and child abuse were equally evil .

I reckon the BMs here would be getting an eternity in flames with pitchforks up the ass if ol' Iris had her way !  

A great example of the madness that develops when you mix politics with evangelicial religion .

This has been a massive story here over the last 2 weeks or so , given that these people are not even supposed to like sex it comes a a massive surprise that she was a little too fond of the cock after all and had at least 3 affairs including one with a nineteen year old boy .

So much for the good Lords commandments on adultery then .

Though the biblical influence seems to be forgotten also when it comes to claiming money .
Forgetting the famous quote in the good book that "the love of money is the root of all evil " this couple actually hold down 3 jobs as MPs each and earned £480.000 between them last year .

Surprise surprise they were top of the list in Northern Ireland when the MPs expenses scandal broke last year .

At one stage they were both claiming expenses on a morgage for a second home until it was pointed out that only one person could actually claim as you only made one payment each month .

Whilst no one should underestimate these groups they pretty much are isolated and have little support in their communities , a bit like those Jap soldiers who refuse to come out of the bushes and admit the war is over .

The good news is the vast majority of people on all sides have put the bad old days behind them , there will be no return to war things have moved on and hard lessons learnt all round .

Things are not perfect and probably never will be , the future must be in fully intergrated education for all children (currently most kids go to schools controlled and segregated by religion )
Unfortunately the politicians and the churches do nothing to encourage this as it endangers their positions of privilege .

I spent about a third of my career in the place- lovely countryside but a shame about everything else that was going on. I remember the first Sainsbury's opening in around 1997 as the big chains started investing in the province. At least the people involved in the current crap are (as before) marginalised by the majority of the population. it's more about crime than nationalism in my humble opinion anyway. As Jim points out there are to many 'big fish' in what is really a very small pond.
