(BlueBallz @ Jan. 18 2010,00:07) So strocube since oyu have such a horrible impression of your fellows citizens and if they make you that afraid, do you have plans to emmigrate???
The USA needs more people as intelligent as Strocube. I get so tired of the, for us or against us, love it or leave it, type of attitude. Why would you even suggest emigrating as something he may want to consider? I totally agree with him.

(Tomcat @ Jan. 18 2010,15:36) According to the Wall St Journal or Herald Tribune ( cant remember which one , freebie Plane news papers eh) Fox News is the most popular "Cable" TV Channel. The article was about how the advent of the Shock Jock Radio shows lead on to such stations as Fox News.

Stuck in a Hotel Room and with only CNN, SKY, BBCWS or FOX id go for FOX any day of the week..it might be rubbish but at least its entertaining rubbish. Personally i always flick through and try for CNBC or Bloomberg as TV Wall paper
Looking at the choices of Intl News I get here in Pattaya, IMO, BY FAR the best channel is Al Jazeera.

Faux News is scary, in that so many Americans actually believe the idiots on that channel are fair, balanced and accurate in their reporting. It would be entertaining to me, for part time viewing, if most people equated it with Mad TV, or Saturday Night Live, like it should be.

Where's your head Al? Al Jazeera's KL centre is run 90% by westerners. The head boss used to be a Kiwi woman. Best unbiased news available in the entire region! Pity the USA didn't screen Al Jazeera live. That might wake a few Foxtards up.

I'm always surprised when i read a comment like this on TLF.I would have thought anyone who likes to fuck ladyboys(presumably)would be more open minded than your run of the mill redneck .

You have obviously never watched Aljazeera, otherwise you wouldn't talk such bullshit. If you want to know whats happening in the world, rather than Boise Idaho, try watching something other than Fox.
Why does anyone who watches AJ have to be left -wing? Can't they be open minded?

Well all the left wingers on here seem to watch fox so why do you have to be a nuckle dragging red neck to watch it?

And there is no way the English version of Al-Jezeera presents it's stories the same way as the arabic version does. Remember when news organisations used to just present the news. What the fuck happened here.

                Un biased eh,

Why then did they hold a Birthday Party in there offices for Samir Kuntar and also describe him as a Pan Arab hero amongst other brown nosing statements...

I watched some Documentaries on there and i would call them 100% left wing anti western. Much of what they report may be Ok but overall they have a slant .

anti-western David Frost, half of the old BBC and ITN newsrooms, New York based American reporters, etc? Faultlines (presented by an ex- US Marine Officer ) is a great news magazine on current issues and perceptions in the States. Well I guess a rag head news organisation is just bad. That makes me bad as well as its the most well balanced news available in Thailand at the moment and not afraid to have a go at the Israelis and their collective punishments in the West Bank and Gaza. The big thing here is that the European and US slant on right/left wing and 'liberal' have different meanings so there'll always be different perceptions, doesn't mean EITHER 'side' is right or wrong.

(strocube @ Jan. 17 2010,22:59) Hey, I know, maybe we could start a whisper campaign, al la Carl Rove that Palin is really a man, you know, that she's a chick with a dick, a slut with nuts, a tranny.
                    Just a thought.
I was thinking maybe a whisper campaign along the lines of "Sarah actually READS BOOKS" might be equally chilling to her audience.

I've been thinking that I really should print up a bunch of shirts that say "Democrats for Palin 2010" as I think I could sell a shitload to my other liberal friends.

I really hope she will make the ticket... that would be the best thing that could happen to the Dem's in 2010.

(BlueBallz @ Jan. 18 2010,00:14) Smutts-given the climate, if an election were held tomoz I think Romney beat Obama easily.  Hell, even Huckabee might beat him!!  Guiliani would beat him as well.  Here a blast form the not too distant past, a guy that would probably trounce Obama as well:  Julius Ceasar Watts.  I dont know what hes doing now but hes probably somewhere in the private scetor making loads of money.

Heres where you lose me Smutts, although I made the statement , "The good news is the Democrats will be voted out.  The bad news is Republicans will replace them."  How is that a ringing endorsement of the Republican party??  You seem to think that the electorate march in a well defined lock step.  Guess what??  They dont??

You having a shot at me thinking I agree with that dope Pat Robertson is akin to me thinking that you agree with those equally moronic dopes (and racists) Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson-both of whom were treated as serious candidates for the Democratic Presidential nomination.

                      BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!
Ridiculous. Pat Robertson would have as much of a chance of "ousting" President Obama as Rudy or the Mittster. I think you seriously misjudge the electorate sir.

(travis bickle @ Jan. 18 2010,04:27) As a non-American,but an interested observer in US political affairs via the internet,I am amazed at the anti-Obama comments. His seat in the White House is hardly warm, and all some right-wingers want him to do is fail! For God's sake ,give the man a chance!
What about the people who denigrated Bush in 2001 when he was barely into his term? Of course no one here is going to defend Bush, because most of the posters here are HUGE hypocrites when it comes to politics.

And for the record, I'm an Obama supporter.
BH, I will give you that. I was one of those folks. But I never wanted Bush to "fail". When 9/11 happened and we were all lighting candles in our windows to show our solidarity, I was behind the man 100%. But within weeks it was apparent he was trying to manipulate the emotions and capitalize on our grief and anger to push an agenda that had nothing to do with the reality of what happened. His administration turned a moment of worldwide unity into more disunity. So very sad and frustrating.

Nonetheless, one of my Rebooblican relatives said something the other day that I really respected. He said that although he didn't vote for President Obama, he hated the way the left wing disrespected President Bush when he was in office and he wouldn't do that himself. He still calls the man President Obama despite the fact that he doesn't like what he's doing.

(BlueBallz @ Jan. 18 2010,08:41) Well, you DID say that "the US is PRIMARULY populated by knuckle dragging mouth breathers" .  That sounds like thats most of us....if you were TRULY scared, you wouldnt take the time.  You would get your ass out of here.  I am happy you have that luxury.

BTW the popularity of Fox News is a direct result of the historical left wing bias in the print and visual media.....
I would say the popularity of the mainstream media had more to do with the fact that news was primarily presented as factual information rather than propaganda or entertainment, as it clearly is on Fox. Most people are smart enough to tell the two apart which is what has annoyed the conservatives for decades, as their agenda was always seen as that - an agenda.

I think the bigger concern for ALL Americans today should be the disturbing decision by the Supreme Court to allow Corporations to participate fully in our political process. McCain/Feingold didn't keep the door closed on large Corporate influence on the process (obviously) but at least it kept the most egregious excesses on the sidelines. This now signals a new era in which corporations have free reign to buy the politicians. The Health Care MegaIndustry and the Banking Robber Barons now have no limitations on how much money they can pump into the political process in order to buy decisions in their favor.

I think this could signal the final nail in the coffin of representational democracy.

Someone once said something to the effect that a democracy can only work until someone figures out how to work the system to take money from the coffers and put it into their own pocket, and that's exactly what this decision has now codified.

It really is sad that it's come to this.

Are they smart enough?. I'm sure Fox theatre goes right over the heads of many and they believe it all hook, line and sinker, and that's not even the mouth breathing knuckle draggers.

A new national survey from Public Policy Polling (D) finds an amazing result: The most trusted name in TV news, the only one that more Americans trust than distrust, is...Fox!

Respondents were asked whether they did or did trust the various news outlets. Fox turned out to be the only one with a positive score, at 49% yes to 37% no. CNN was at 39%-41%, NBC 35%-44%, CBS 32%-46%, and ABC 41%-46%. The pollster's analysis finds a high level of polarization, with 74% of Republicans trusting Fox, and no more than 23% of Republicans trusting anybody else. Smaller majorities of Democrats trust all the other outlets and distrust Fox. Independents register negative ratings for all the news outlets, but Fox comes the closest at 41%-44%.

"A generation ago you would have expected Americans to place their trust in the most neutral and unbiased conveyors of news," said PPP president Dean Debnam, in the polling memo. "But the media landscape has really changed and now they're turning more toward the outlets that tell them what they want to hear."
