(deepthroat @ Jan. 01 2010,01:23) My New Year's Resolution - to remember Winston Churchill's deathbed quote: "I've had a lot of trouble in my life, most of which never happened."
    Happy New Year to everyone...

including Deepthroat to whom I offer a small correction to the above quote.

It wasn't Winston Churchill who said it, it was Mark Twain, his fellow countryman & a man as equally adept at using the language as Churchill.

    The actual quote is:

I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.

Regardless, it has always been one of my favourite quotes, along with Churchills great observation:

A problem ignored is a problem half solved
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

Thanks Pacman, my best to you in 2010. That's what I love about this forum! We have beautiful chicks, a bunch of dicks, and edumucation all in a single compact one-size-fits all location.

Seriously, I appreciate the correction, as it not only attributes it correctly, but it cleans up the grammer and gets the meaning across more clearly. Whoever said it, I love the message.

Looking forward to seeing more of you all in 2010, either in LOS, or in the forum (a sad stand-in for the real thing, that's for sure).

I seriously cannot believe we're beginning a new decade already. It seems like only a couple of years ago we were all worried about the Y2K bug; now it's the impending collapse of the world economic system and the H1N1 plague.

Guess Mark Twain really had it right.

            Or was that Churchill ?

With all the ups and downs in our personal lives, this place has always been a 'refuge'...OK, also a source of frustration sometimes...

But to quote the great Malcolm Fraser : "Life wasn't meant to be easy"....Or Paul Keating : "This was the recession we needed to have"....

Thanks for the ride in '09 and Best wishes to all and a very Happy and prosperous 2010.

I did see my grammatical error, I was of course referring to Mark Twain as being Deepthroat's fellow countryman.

It hardly seemed necessary to change it & now I find myself writing a post by way of explanation...

Happy New Year to you oh pendantic one...

                        Cheers KevinR2D2...

My memory is fine but I am greatly heartened by your use of the verb 'assuage' (to soothe, to appease)...

Perhaps 2010 could be the year of higher vocabulary standards employed by those left on the forum...

And shouldn't we all rejoice in a word that describes soothing that incorporates 'U' in between 'ASS' & 'AGE'...
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

When thinking has the power to make it so, then yes it will be...

You must practice the power of positive thinking & start seeing life as one great adventure & stop wallowing in self pity...
