Breaking the 1.000 post mark by Feb.1

Many of you are way beyond it but who is going to try to make it by Feb. 1 in order to escape having to pay for the forum?

I guess 5 bucks a month for a good forum is not too bad but what if all forums out there would charge - I am more than 500 posts short but perhaps I will say more often what is on my mind and post some pics from my SD-card to "get in" before the cut-off date ...

LOL i'd suggest meaningful posts are required to obtain an VIP pass.

At any rate, most of the forum will still be free, so its a bit misleading to suggest after Feb 1, you will need to pay to see this site.

Actually, I would like to say more, but I am in a rush.

I look at it this way: I have been a member for a long time but have not posted as much as I could have, perhaps. On the other hand I often think that there is already enough stuff to read, so I refrain from chipping in.

But now I suddenly have a new motivation and 20 meaningful post a day are not that difficult to achieve, which would get me across the line.

Will see what happens. I also assume that a good and strong forum also needs those members who do not post that frequently - it is the potential that counts.

I fully understand the idea behind charging as I often wondered why all this should be without any cost. But then how many will stay once they have to pay ...

There are easier ways of being a VIP member...

For example - Join AsianTS.com for one year for $89.95 through THIS LINK!

Plenty of people will shy away from paying, but that still leaves a lot of the message board that they can see.

For those that do join I hope that the $1 a week is good value for them.

Despite what some people think - websites DO cost money to maintain, especially dedicated fast server sites like this. This also takes up a large chunk of my time each day (renaming and moving threads, deleting SPAM, etc) so hopefully the level of support will be enough to continue paying the bills and not close it down permanently.

We'll see.

By the way - the moderators look at the forum every day and can fast track members to VIP status, so even if you absolutely don't want to pay OR join an affiliate site OR contribute any posts then there still may be a way!

Either way - most of the forum sections will always be free...

Reminds me of one russian joke about "new russians":

Two new Russians meet at the Zurich airport and are rather pissed to be forced to share a private Falcon back to Moscow. But the other plane has an engine fault and no replacement is available, so they share the same flight.

The trophy girlfriends are loaded with their Chihuahuas into the back seats, and both russians sit in the front of the small plane near the cockpit.

I certainly agree and fully understand your POV, BS. However, not earning a Western salary and probably not earning a salary in 2010 due to planning on doing some voluntary work, I need to cut corners or rather look at it this way. If I can qualify for a full forum membership by bringing up my post count, it would be silly not to try.

Of course that doesn't contribute towards yr goal of receiving additional funding. Were there any other options which might work?
