You union bashers are a bunch of fucking CUNTS!
Unions are necessary to protect workers, and in fact society from some of the more egregious abuses perpetrated by business.
It was unions and people involved with labor struggles that got us the 8 hour day, the weekend, child labor laws and all of the protections that we enjoy. Those were fought for--people bled and died for that shit. It is also wroth noting that every time, for every single one of those things mentioned above, business claimed that it would ruin them--bullshit. Those greedy fucks want it all for themselves and would be quite happy to see labor laws and protections for workers brought back to 19th century levels--FUCK THEM!
For the past 9 years I have been a proud union member of CWA, Communication Workers of America, AFL-CIO, CLC local KISS MY ASS YOU FASCIST PRICKS!

          BRAVO Strocube!!!

You are 100% dead on and correct. Many people forget the struggles of our parents and their parents to get us to where we are today. My background is coal mines and steel industry. I cannot tell you the people who have died and suffered under those early non-unionized regimes. Many things we take for granted as "our right" in the workforce would not exist if it were not for unions. Sure unions can piss people off from time to time but we need to remember the BIG picture and stop complaining about how fat they are or how easy they have it. They fight, and those of them before fought for what we have today. As a result we too have become fat and have it easy. The old maxim of, "if you do not know history you will be condemned to repeat it" comes to mind. If we do not know the history of unions and why they exist we will return to the dark days of worker exploitation.

People band together for a reason. Unions have existed since humans have. A tribe is a union. A village, a region, a race, a language, a culture, a country, all are unions. Given that I believe the world is a better, richer, more interesting and diverse place as a result.

Dude, I get so fucking mad when people start talking shit about labor and unions, grrrrr.
One of the things that I admire about France is that they have very strong unions that stick together. If government threatens to cut salaries or to lay people off in, lets say, education, truck drivers and garbage collectors will go out on strike with them, and basically shut down the country until shit gets resolved. This has sent a very clear message, i.e. YOU DO NOT FUCK WITH LABOR IN THIS COUNTRY.
I wish that were the case in the the U. S. Unfortunately, people here have bought much of the anti-union rhetoric coming from business and the media. This has rendered them much more vulnerable to the whims of business. It has made them docile and exploitable, which is exactly what business wants. This may be good in the short-term for the bottom line of companies, but it is bad for the rest of us.

I have a friend who is willing to bet we will live to see the return of the feudal system in our lifetime, i.e. the master & the serf relationship that endured far longer than the capitalist system we see today.

Once you remove all guarantees of a fair wage & price necessities beyond the reach of working families, how many of them would be willing to trade their rights for a roof over their head, 3 meals a day & a reliable medical service?

Lots of them according to my friend. And the country he sees as leading the way to return to medieval times is the US.

Where else do the working poor agitate so loudly against free health care? They have become the tools of the right wing & are being led up the garden path by the all powerful combination of Big Business & Right Wing Media.

Going on the evidence so far, I am inclined to agree with my friend's prediction.

The Republicans have gone too far with their insane interpretation of freedom versus the the evil of socialism. Such manipulation of the facts were last sprouted by the Nazi party of Germany.

And I hold no affiliation with the left of politics, I like to consider both sides of an argument but I cannot abide the policies of the neocons.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

                Well said, Pacman!
I live here, and I have to agree with your friend. Most people here are FUCKING STUPID. As you rightly pointed out, they have no concept of what their interests are. They just parrot right wing rhetoric.
It looks to me that this country has been moving towards a third world socioeconomic system, in which a few people control most of the wealth and everyone else is basically dirt poor.
This country is primed for the return of a feudal system. You've got fundamentalists and gun weirdos forming racist militias and being spurred on by you-know-who. Couple that with the current economic insecurity and you've got the potential for things to get really ugly here.

Paccy, I'm not just pulling you up on this as many people seem to not understand the Nazi party in Germany was the NSDAP. The National SOCIALIST German workers Party. You may not like it but they were socialist too.

And not to Pacman but more in general, Unions do have a place but they are not above being incorrect in certain cases. Blind faith to any cause would make you a fundamentalist and the same as they people you claim so blindly to oppose.

They may have been National Socialist in name but it meant a totally different thing .

The first people rounded up were the trade unionists , socialists and communists .

All smashed off the streets and declared illegal to pave the way for a dictatorship .

Hitler despised the working classes and their organisations (which like most other things he blamed on a Jewish plot )

                      I agree comrade Strocube

Its amazing how many people nowdays are bought off by the false arguement that the exploiters have the right to exploit and no one has the right to fight back .

The history of this world has been shaped by ordinary men and women fighting for their rights and it goes on day and daily , of course its never perfect or easy or straight forward but nothing ever is .

True but the Bolsheviks didn't treat the trade unions to well wither did they, do you think the Unions of today would accept the control of Trade Unions the like communists wanted? Also wasn't it a Polish trade union that kicked out the communists there?

The only real difference I seen between the two is that Hitlers hatred was based on Race where as the communists was based on class. I don't like either idea personaly. Who gives a toss where you were born or what family you were born into. As i was trying to allude to earlier I don't like extremeists.

Most of the right wing press believe they are under communist control already

Some intresting points Geezer though I still think there is massive difference between communism and fascism , but you are correct extremism of any form isn't healthy .

Back in the days when I part owned a succesful business empoying forty people, a condition of employment was not to be member of a trade union.
Everybody was well paid, engineers company cars were replaced with upgraded models year on year and nobody had to work more than a nine hour day, although from time to time were expected to work thru lunch.
Happily we sold out five years ago at a great price helped by the fact that a union veto was never going to be a hurdle to overcome.
Employess serving more than five years were rewarded accordingly once we banked the buyers cheque.
