As it was the Bators that started the ancient civilisations, I could say a few things about this but I am afraid that only a few BM's would understand.

Could the sudden return of the Master have anything to do with this? Or will the Romulans beat him to it?

I've little to no interest in movies like this. Seen the previews several times and nothing in them made me say to myself, self we must see this movie.

There are nutjobs running around all over the place predicting a major catastrophe in 2012 and movies like this would IMO just add fuel to their fire.

One guy I met here back in 2007 told me that in 2012 the earth is going to all the sudden stop spinning on it's axis and immediately begin spinning in the opposite direction. He told me that unless I could move up high into the mountains before then, which he is planning to do, that I'd surely meet my demise when this happens along with 80% of the world's population.    


PS: This dude also told me that the vapor trails we see jets leave behind them were really an insidious plot to slowly poison the people of the world with some kind of gas.

Roland Emmerich, the director/producer of the apocalyptic film 2012 (opening Nov. 13), confirmed to EW exclusively that a small-screen version of the end-of-the-world movie is already in the works. Emmerich said there was €œplenty to do in a TV show€ and that 2012 executive producer Mark Gordon €“ who€™s also an exec producer on TV shows like Grey€™s Anatomy and Private Practice - would be attached.

€œThe plan is that it is 2013 and it€™s about what happens after the disaster,€ Emmerich told EW while walking the red carpet for the 2012 premiere Tuesday. €œIt is about the resettling of Earth. That is very, very fascinating. (2012 writer/producer) Harald Kloser and I came up with the idea and we have the luxury of having a producer on the film who is a big TV producer, Mark Gordon. We said to Mark, €˜Why don€™t you do a TV show that picks up where the movie leaves off and call it 2013?€™ I think it will focus on a group of people who survived but not on the boats €¦ maybe they were on a piece of land that was spared or one that became an island in the process of the crust moving. There are so many possibilities of what they could do and I€™d be excited to watch it.€

I'm a big fan of Terrence Mckenna (RIP). It's interesting that by studying the King Wen version of the I Ching he came to the conclusion that Dec 21, 2012 was the end of some kind of cycle. It was only later that he realized that the Mayan Calender also indicated the end of one cycle and the beginning of another on that same date.

Now, what he was suggesting was by no means the end of the world, but rather a radical transformation of humanity and the planet.

I highly recommend his book True Hallucinations. Even if you don't buy all the theorizing, it's a ripping good read. This guy was great storyteller.

I don't buy either idea, but a radical transformation, etc., doesn't seem so bad, and probably couldn't come soon enough.
