Seven Dead and 20 Injured in Shootings at Texas Base

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) -- The U.S. Army has closed its massive Army base at Fort Hood, Texas, amid reports that several people have been shot and killed at the post.

The Web site of the base in central Texas has posted an alert that says, ''Effective immediately Fort Hood is closed.'' The Web site said that units at the base have been ordered to account for all personnel.

The site says, ''This is not a Drill. It is an Emergency Situation.''

Several television stations in Texas say several people were both killed and wounded in the shooting. Officials at the base and in the nearby town of Killeen, Texas, have not confirmed those accounts.

Fort Hood is located halfway between Austin and Waco.

(CNN) -- Eleven people plus a gunman were dead and 31 wounded after the gunman opened fire Thursday on a soldier-processing center at Fort Hood, Texas, officials said.

The gunman was a soldier, and two other soldiers have been detained as suspects, Army Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said.

The slain gunman was identified as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan, according to a law enforcement source. The source believes he is 39 or 40 years old.

Ten of the other dead also were soldiers, while the remaining one was a civilian police officer who was working as a contractor on the base, Cone said.

in custody...I'll wager he's gonna wish he was deployed...or dead...or both...They ain't gonna be kind

Maybe some of the americans here can shed some light on what is going to happen to this guy now. Will he stand before a military court or public court? and does military court have the death sentence?

My best guess...He will be brought to trial before the US Army...And yes, I beliebe the Uniform Code of Millitary Justice does provide for the death penalty...

That is if he is lucky...If he is brought to trail before a Texas criminal court he'll be dead before xmas...They don't fuck around in Texas...

ORLANDO, Fla. - A suspect was in custody Friday afternoon after a man opened fire in the offices of an Orlando architecture company that
fired him 2½ years ago, killing one person and wounding five others, police and the company said.

Orlando police Chief Val Demings identified the suspect as Jason Rodriguez, 40. Police said he was arrested peacefully at his mother€™s home.

Asked by a reporter outside the police station why he did it, Rodriguez replied: €œBecause they left me to rot.€

The incident comes just a day after an Army psychiatrist opened fire at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 soldiers and wounding 30 others in the worst
mass shooting on a U.S. military base.

The dude was born and raised muslim in the state of Virginia. He was from imigrant parents that came from Jordan. He isa 39 years old. He never was deployed anywhere overseas previously. His only assignment since graduating med school and serinv internship etc hsa been at Wal;ter Reed Army Hospital in Wash. DC, then reassigned to Ft. Hood. He was totally against killing and fighting the muslims. He wsa due to ship out to Afghanistan today Friday. He did not want to go to Iraq and the Army gave him his wish and was sending him to Afghanistan.
He is presently in a coma and on a ventilator. He has been wounded 4 times. Chest, abdomen and head. So go figure, in a coma but stable head wound from a 9mm.......at close range too so do you think he will ever stand trial? He may be the first ever paralyzed person to be executed. No need for straps, just lay him on the table like a side of beef and do it.

The only way the military will give the death sentence is if it was preplaned............and from the looks of what he had etc it was definately preplaned, so either way you look at it he can kiss his ass goodbye sooner than later. That is unless the ACLU and SPLC decides to get in on it like the did to that Sgt who threw handgrenades at his superior officers on the night before Iraqi Freedom started. They siad he would have been tried and if convcicted he would have been executed by now. But since the scum bag poliiticians opened it up to ciivilian lawsuits too he has years to go.
