    Super Freakonomics book

I'm starting to read this recently released book and for mongers here it may be interesting reading. Although it's a book on Economics, the authors Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner turn conventional thinking on it's head with real life examples and point out some answers you wouldn't normally think of.
The very first chapter is titled - Street Prostitute like a department store Santa.
Rather amazing connections are made and amongst the things it reveals, with regard to us, is:
    - How Family Reunions help prostitutes,
    - Why the police tolerate pimps,
    - how an escort raised her price from $300 an hour to $500, raised her income by 46% and actually had less sex.
    - how the income of a F to M transgendered person is greater than a M to F.
The book isn't purely for economists and anybody with an interest in business or an inquisitive mind would find it interesting.

I read their first book and was rather underwhelmed.
Basically they said 4 or 5 interesting things in the first 40 pages which were then repeated and explained over and over again as if the reader was a retard.

Did you read the first book and how does the second book compare to the first?

I also read the first book and was unimpressed overall. There were a lot of interesting bits, but due to the book really being just a collection of newspaper articles, it's very repetitive.

The second book would have to be quite a bit better for me to want to read it among so many other books. Please let us know how it is.

          Ho Ho Ho

I'm quite impressed with these guys. They think outside the box and look for the truth.

In the 80's crime was rampant in big American cities but there was a sharp fall off in the 90's. Crimebusters such as Rudy G often got credit for this.

Levitt and Dubner uncovered the real reason. Those most likely to commit crimes in the 90's were aborted in the 70's.
