  • Some useless but fun facts!

Humans and Chimpanzee's have 95% of the same DNA;  one major gene missing in chimps is the FOXP2 gene, which allows for spoken language.

Neanderthals, the last of our closest cousins to die out, also had this gene.

The nuclear genome for Neandathals is almost complete; so it would be theoretically possible to bring back Neanderthals by getting some of their sperm into a modern humans egg and bringing that fetus to term.

Human beings started walking on their hind legs more than 6 million years ago.

Dolphins are much more closely related to human beings than they are to sharks.

Our bodies are home to more than 1000 different species of microscopic animals.

They multiply rapidly; there are more germs on your body than there are people in the united states, about 350 million.

            Want fries with that?
There is more bacteria in the ice machines at fast-food restaurants than in the toilet bowl water.

Yuri Gugarin, the first man in space, died later on when the MIG he was test-driving crashed.

65% of all Americans believe that JFK was killed in a conspiracy.
*Fact;  the loner Lee Harvey Oswald took him out by himself, with a cheap Italian-made carbine rifle fired from a 6th-floor window at 88 yards away; an easy shot for a ex-Marine marksman.

Within 3 days of death, the enzymes which once digested your dinner begin to eat YOU from the inside out.

Over an average lifespan,a person will  spend 6 years dreaming, about 136,000 dreams in all.

The world record for staying awake? 264 hours and 12 minutes, by a Brit in 1964.
*Note; This was long before the invention of methamphetamine; new records may be just around the corner.

80%  of  people in the United States die in a hospital.

More people commit suicide in New York city than are murdered.

People who regularly eat breakfast or dinner in a restaurant double their risk of becoming obese.

The brain is made up of 70% fat.

             Waddup, Cuz?
Excluding Africa, every single person on the planet is related. The other 6 continents can trace their origins back to a small group of a few hundred intrepid travellers who left Africa for the middle east about 50,000 years ago.

White skin pigmentation changes did not begin until about 30,000-40,000 years ago, when our ancestors began moving into colder climates and out of the sun.

If you lined up all the bacteria on earth from end to end, they would stretch from here to the ends of the visible universe.

E-coli bacteria can travel at the equivalent of 135 miles per hour; 25 times their own length in one second!

Skin releases over 3 gallons of water on a hot day.

Over 99% of all species ever created on earth are now extinct.

Humans and chimps may have intebred about 6.3 million years ago, and again a few hundred thousand years later, before we both went our own ways.

Just one quart of improperly-disposed-of motor oil can pollute up to 250,000 gallons of water.

Snow is a mineral, just like diamonds and salt.

        Fresh snow is 90-95% air.

85% of all the gold ever found on earth is still being used today.
       *{No truth to the rumor that 50% of THAT is in Thai jewelry stores at this very minute}

The USA has the largest supply of gold reserves; but India {?} has 20 percent of all the worlds decorative gold sewn into its clothes.

The largest reserves of gold are in the oceans, over 10 billion tons; unfortunately we have no way to get them out.

But that's nothing compared with Eros, a single asteroid in space which has more gold than has ever been mined on earth. This also can't be mined.

True fact;  every day 4 BILLION meteoroids fall to earth, most miniscule in size.

100,000 meteoroids will hit the international space station during its 20 year span; so it is covered in kevlar, the same material used for bullet-proof vests.

Meteoroids enter the atmosphere at 130,000 miles per hour; once they land they change their names to meteorite.

200,000 miles of oil pipelines have been laid down on the earth, almost the distance to the moon.

Oil comes from pond scum, one of the oldest and most abundant life-forms on earth.

There are 17,129 nearby stars which most likely have the proper elemants to support complex life.

The SETI institute in California tried listening for sounds of life from space for 10 years at a cost of $5 million per year; it heard nothing.

18 people have died on space missions, always on the way up or down.

In summer, it's hot not because the earth is closer to the sun, but because the tilt of the earths axis lets rays of sunlight hit one hemisphere more directly.

Solstice myth;  the Beaker People, and not the Druids of the Celts,  finished Stonehenge a millenium before either of the other 2 groups showed up.

Uranus has a 42 year long summer -  followed by an extremely depressing 42-year long winter.

The sun keeps getting brighter; 40% more so than when earth was formed 4.5 billion years ago.

And hotter; between 1 and 3 billion years from now, the sun will have burned off all of the earth's oceans, leaving behind one large and endless desert on this earth.  Get in your beach vacations now!

Lets face it. This is going to happen, only a matter of time. This was the subject of an Article Scientific American Magazine  .. think it was the September issue.

The moral issue would be do you keep them in a Zoo , a house or a Lab. In fact they would have no memory and be imbeciles but would still make interesting study...(

The debate is whether Homo Sapiens bashed them all to death or they co existed ( the latest theory)

One Neandarthal male was found with a sharp, arrow-like projectile found in his rib cage; they themselves never advanced past spears, and blunt ones at that....so the debate continues, as some people take this to mean that the guy was shot and killed by one of our relatives.

We may have co-existed with them for a while, maybe even made a few babies together?? Probably not though...... and in the end their strict meat-eating diet may have been their ultimate demise; their diet was not as well-rounded as ours was with nuts`and fish, etc, and survival of the fittest literally won out.

My guess is that a country such as Iran or North Korea would bring them and use them as slaves.

                        Atoms are also 99.9% nothing...

The cloud of electrons covering the atomic nucleus is the around the same ratio as a pea at the centre of the earth. The appearance of solidity is due to the fields and forces involved..Thats why you can force the mass of 50 million suns into a black hole the size of a grapefruit

I know it dont make sense but on smaller scales nothing does...its another world so to speak

I promise i wont post any more...had to post this otherwise my old Science teacher would be rolling in his grave.. God bless him...

                              siiiiighhhh....unfortunately  you guys who watched  the movie JFK have been brainwashed along with the other 65% to think it was some inside job by;

                              {pick your poison}

                                Etc........all Bullshit!!

Read  Gerald Pozners excellent book on this subject, 'Case Closed'; and you will indeed agree it is a closed case;  some attention-seeking loner who wanted his 15 minutes of fame pulled the trigger and was then shot by a Kennedy-loving patriot;  end of story, no conspiracy, and in the end Oliver Stone embarassed himself and made a whole generation of people believe his bullshit movie; basically the farcical story of a discredited lunatic district attorney from New Orleans!!

                                    Sorry guys,  back to UFO-hunting!
