(pacman @ Sep. 21 2009,08:04) I'll play your silly game...

      1. Americans
      2. Norwegians
      3. Germans

Number 3 is not a mis-print, I have found Germans to be very kind & generous people (once you have broken the ice)...  YMMV

As far as white South Africans go, I meet many of them & it takes them a while to understand their programmed behaviour is out of step with most other countries.
Give them a little time, wave the magic dust of political correctness over them & most of them turn out just fine. Some don't though...
Norwegians?  I'm sure there are some nice ones, but if the group who hang out at the Kingfisher in Pattaya are representative of the country as a whole, then they'd be far down my list.
There were 3-4 sitting outside mid day a few weeks back and I tried to engage them in some friendly banter. First, one of them looked at me with a 'what the fuck are you talking to me for?' expression and then when I said something else as basic as how much do the beers cost here, they all flat out ignored me.

The few Fins, Swedes and Danes I've talked to here all were much friendlier. Though it would not have been hard to be friendlier than that Norwegian bunch. I've talked to guys from Oman, Dubai and Saudi for that matter who were also much friendlier.

You know what they say about Norwegians anyway, they are just Swedes with their brains knocked out.

(JaiDee @ Sep. 22 2009,19:28) No one mentioned Scots?? Who cares if we need sub-titles to understand 'em, they are funny and drink a lot!
Ain't that the fucking truth. First trip to Thailand I met a lot of Scots hanging out at Billy and Pin's guesthouse when I was in Chalong Bay with you know who. Very friendly lot, but the only one I ever understood was Billy after I asked him if he would please repeat himself two times. The others while they readily laughed, smiled and were pleasant to be around may as well have been speaking Swahili. One of the young Scottish fellows there was said to be an English teacher. My God, how could a Scot teach anyone English? I could only think, his poor Thai students.

I like the Dutch just fine. At least you speak better English than those from UK.

I am sure you are right. We can only take people as we find them & being introduced to Norwegians by a local when I was visiting Norway would be a vastly different circumstance than the one you describe.

I am surprised this thread got so much play, a lot of people have opinions on the people they have come across who they have liked or didn't care for.

I won't name any countries lest I offend some people who may read here, but I will say that any people who come from western countries and have a chip on their shoulder 24/7 have to re-evaluate their priorities.  Walking around with something to prove to people who come from what they may percieve as better places is no way to live a life; a Napoleanic complex from a  whole nation full of people is a major turn-off.

Seen it many times, one particularly grating bar owner was the poster child for this boorish behaviour and it's not appealing one bit.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Who said anything about Dutch footballers? If you had read my first post I had listed the Dutch as one of my 3 friendlest. You tarnish that, but can't single handedly change that position.

As far as Jen goes...were happy for ya...what a great LB lover you are. Who cares what that poll about yourself said. Just keep telling, yourself, your good enough, your smart enough, and gosh darn it people like you.
