Its not new research. That youtube video is 2 years old. The theory of the Shroud of Turin being a early photograph of Da Vinci has been around for years. Same with the Mona Lisa Theories.

I think I recall seeing a documentary about the Shroud were a guy made a Shroud of himself using the same methods believed to of been used by Da Vinci back in the 14th century.

I had heard about these things for a while also, never quite believed by the masses however, always sounded more like a conspiracy theory. but a show I watched this week on Nat Geo was talking about facial recognition tecniques which first started in casinos and are now used by police forces around the world.  People started comparing paintings of Leonardo,  Mona Lisa and the shroud and it turned out they were all indeed the same face!  Apparently Leonardo was obsessed with faces and similarity patterns in each person's face,  and drew them often and in meticulous detail.  The Mona Lisa is just one example and the wry smile people have commented about for hundreds of years may be Leonardo saying "this is really my face''.

while I can buy the painting story, the shroud is something completely different.

"an early photography"?
why would the early photography show all his body?
why with his arms crossed over his abdomen?
what about the datation to early middle ages? no doubt Da Vinci would have used a clean sheet?
and there is more that doesn't fit, but I am too lazy to research and list everything.
