Hijacked AeroMexico Jet Lands in Mexico City

MEXICO CITY, Sept 9 (Reuters) - An AeroMexico passenger plane was hijacked at the airport in the Mexican resort of Cancun on Wednesday and flown to Mexico City's international airport.

Transport Minister Juan Molinar told Mexican radio the aircraft had landed safely.

El Universal and Reforma websites said three men earlier seized control of the plane and threatened to blow it up unless they were allowed to speak to President Felipe Calderon.

Update at 3:59 p.m. ET:Security forces have stormed the plane from the rear and captured seven hijackers, according to TV reports. They are being taken to a detention center. No passengers have been reported injured.

TV Azteca translators, via CNN, say there's some confusion about whether the hijackers are Bolivian or possibly Colombian.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon was at the airport when the hijacking occurred. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon also was there, preparing to fly out around 4 p.m. ET.

Just in:

A passenger jet was hijacked from Cancun and is now sitting on a runway at Mexico City airport, the Associated Press reports.

Details as available.

Update at 3:28 p.m. ET: The AP adds that Mexican news media are reporting that the hijackers are three Bolivian citizens who are demanding to talk with Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Mexican network TV Azteca reported that the flight is carrying 104 passengers.

Update at 3:33 p.m. ET: The German news agency DPA reports that the three hijackers, all men, have threatened to detonate a bomb.

DPA writes that the AeroMexico plane "was hijacked by the time it landed at Mexico City airport, where it remained isolated on a runway."

All flights into and out of Mexico City have been suspended.

Update at 3:39 p.m. ET: AP says passengers were seen leaving the plane.

Update at 3:44 p.m. ET: The El Universal daily newspaper reported that the hijackers had not been able to get inside the plane's cockpit, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Update at 3:50 p.m. ET: The plane was Flight 576.

Me thinks the idiot got into a shipment of drugs while on break from his part time job of illicit drug packageing when not preaching. Blame his inability of not being able to count or convert numbers on the Mexican school system.we all know public school systems suck. He had nothing but good intentions thats more than what other hi jackers have had.
