Was flicking thru the channels last night-yeah I know 167 channels and still fuck all on!! Came across the movie SPINAL TAP!! I watched about 25 minutes before I hit the hay. I have seen it MANY times and there are still many scenes and lines that draw belly laughs. Loved it!!

Worked for record companies myself -first as a plugger later as a marketing executive. We would watch Spinal Tap at least once a year.

those amps that go to 11 would be a big hit here in Thailand!

Other favorite scenes: Philadelphia here we come! ( running around in the catacombs of the stadium unable to find the way to the stage.

I actually had one of those amps that went to 11, an old tweed Fender Harvard. I sold it decades ago & the guy always reminded after the movie came out that it went to 11, I had forgotten.

I also had no idea until I watched Scorcese's "Blues" series that the guitarist (Nigel Tufnel?) modeled himself after Jeff Beck. When Beck first opened his mouth I almost fell off the chair laughing it was so dead on!

The 11 scene has become a classic private joke with us to convey anytime someone feels they are just that one number better or cooler, but can be clueless or offscale.  The Tap fans all know what is going on.

Have you scene any of Christopher Guest's other writing/acting "mock-you-mentaries", like "A Mighty Wind"?  Not surprising that he is a repeat Daily Show visiter.



Sorry to break the thread, but speaking of the out-to-lunch crowd, can anyone believe the stunt of republicans questioning Barack's birth certificate.  That is like having a yellow bellied deserter like GW questioning Kerry's service record ... Oh I guess that did happen
