Sending DVDs abroad with Thai Mail

Would anyone know whether it is possible (permitted) to send DVDs with personal data abroad using Thai mail?
I cannot do it from China, so I'm thinking of doing it from Thailand. No problem if done from back home (Europe).
The files are mainly audiobook downloades from Rapidshare and I want to send them to a friend in Russia - no lb-stuff or alike ...

The question is probably, does ThaiPost check the contents of a package and are there restrictions beyond the usual like drugs, guns, etc.

Why not sent the package UPS, FedEx or DHL...

It's expensive but at least you'll be certain (well, almost certain) that it will get there...

Thai post is reliable and there is no checking of outbound packages - it is the the customs of the receiving country that does the checking.

I have sent movie DVDs to the UK, US and Canada without problems using Thai post. You can also register the package, which will allow you to track it on the Thai Post web page.

The "getting there" has never been a problem. The problem is whether it can be sent.
Courier services would be too expensive considering the content and the occasion and still not solve the problem what's legal to send in whatever country.
I guess I'll just try ...

Well, here in China the post office most definitely checks all outbound packages down to its exact contents, one even has to use standard sized boxes but I guess it is the system which messes with people whenever they can.
I know that when I send things from back home, no one checks and one can use any size or shape of box.
Russia's postal service has been very efficient and reliable as well, much to my surprise, and DVDs have never been a problem. Last time, when back home I even sent a 120 GB portable HDD which I had no particular use for any longer ... and it arrived save and sound.

Makes me actually wonder what makes postal services change for the better once a country overcomes communism.

I've always found the outbound post to be perfectly reliable.
Plus if you take any item to the post office they will wrap it properly for you for probably less than you can buy the packing materials yourself.

Inbound the only problems I have had have been Thai Customs holding things for days and in one case weeks.
Plus the new security in my apartment building are not very bright and not very reliable so they lose about 1 item in 5 or sign it out to another person.

What about having it sent poste restante in that case?
Would avoid having the guys at apartment building mess things up ...

Perhaps the occasional tip could focus their attention a bit more clearly as well, but I would still opt for the poste restante version for important incoming stuff ...

i send some dvd or ps games to my country many times, i never get any problem, i always put the disk inside a tourist brochure, and sealed the enveloppe with adhesive,without forget to write" free brochure" and "printed paper" on the enveloppe
thai post office is very reliable and no question at all
