No not really! Congrats to the English team and to all the Poms on here! A well deserved win and probably the kick in the genitals Aussie cricket has deserved after the arrogance of the past. Sport is cyclical: Its the England teams turn in the sun and I wish them the best.
As for you Allstar88: I like to engage in light-hearted banter about the result. Its what we do. Don't go getting personal and calling me a wanker. You wouldn't say it to my face (unless you were my mate) so don't let the piss take over a game of cricket get personal.f0xxee

Well its over well done to England(that was pretty hard to say)The two tur ning points of the series was Australias ordinary bowling performance and their inability to knock over the last wicket in Cardiff and the bowling performance of Stuart Broard in the last test. Freddies run out of Ponting was spectacular but the damage had been done, I dont think I would call Foxee a wanker either!!!!

A great result. Well done to the English team, it's good for England & good for the game...
It may sound odd coming from an Australian but I can't see any harm in giving Ponting & Co a taste of defeat & a lesson in humility.
Retaining the Ashes is not some god-given birthright we have. The Media have such high expectations of the Australian side that whipping the Poms was considered a formality.
The truth is that they are over-rated & over paid & will benefit from the loss.
Too long the team relied on McGrath & Warne to bowl them out of trouble. Mitchell Johnson did not rise to the occasion & no front line spinner...
What were they thinking? I will have to send them my number...Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

Not interested in cricket in the slightest - especially an event with just two teams in it - but it all seemed jolly hockey sticks to the likes of Bumble, Athers and Beefy (don't these people think they're a bit long in the tooth for fifth form nicknames?)
Anyhoo, just wondered - philistine that I am about rounders - if the Ashes urn is such a coveted "trophy", why do the players chuck it around from one to another with reckless abandon when they are doing the lap of honour? I know they should be good at catching things but it does seem to be a lack of respect for something that the two countries care so much about. Even if it is a replica, the point is still valid.
Just a question...

Hi Allstar,
The problem is bragging rights for the Ashes and one dayers are such diferent animals: One is steeped in heritage, the other (in my mind) shall be forever linked to Benson and Hedges. (The marketing men on the forum can have an onanistic moment over that revelation).
England won the Ashes and may I say "well played sir!" to them.
Even if us Aussies win the one day series its definately second best.f0xxee
