I still say the best way to find out who the best picker is is using the "spread".

Try it for one week and you'll find out just how impossible it would be to keep up with.

First the only people playing would be people from the USA.

You wanna answer 20 emails a week from the rest of the world who simply don' get it?

Take my word for it, forcing people to learn something new is NOT the way to run an online competition with people from all over the world who don't even like the NFL much less understand it!

The only way for this to work and include people who don't give a rats arse about the Florida Yankees or the Michigan Giants is to make it simple simple SIMPLE!

Win or lose is the best way.

Believe me if I thought it would work I'd go for it. Spread betting on the NFL even with Monopoly money is a lot of fun.

Once again, I am CONSTANLY reminded on various forums on the web how stoopid us Yanks are. If we are so STOOOOPID how come we can all grasp the concept easily and not the rest of YOUSE???

Smutts or Piggdogg or even ME for that choice can post the ines for all the games on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Those lines are THEEE lines. The lines do not move but more than a point 99% of the time. We pick three, four or five games per week. The best % at the end of the year wins. Even if there are some guys who dont understand it-let them pick whatever games they like but WITH the spead then show them each week if they won or lost. I guarantee you by week 3 anyone will get the hang of it.

I know the Kompetiton wont go like this, so lets all pick the chalk every week then!!!

You are forgetting that most people don't even understand the rules of the game itself let alone how to bet on it.

It's not about stupidity at all. It's about the necessity to learn.

Kids in the Thai markets can do maths and work out your change in their heads instantly but can barely read!

They need to know maths but they don't need to read.

If you make people think too much on the internet you will lose their interest.

I guarantee you that by the time we are 3 weeks into the season only about 3 of us would be left playing.

Simple simple simple... it's the only way the internet works.

Just take a look at this forum. Probably the easiest to use and most bland looking forum on the world wide web. No bells and whistles and no strange colors, etc...

But I still get hundreds of emails a year from people who have trouble with it. So God only knows how long they stay on other forums... about 10 seconds I would guess!

That's a lot of lost input!

The golden rule for webmasters designing for the casual internet user is "Keep it simple - make it interactive."

If this was a sports forum or a betting site or even an all USA forum we'd be using the line for our competition.

It isn't any of those so we have to go with the simple and most universally understood rule of betting... 'Win or Lose!'

As soon as you print a word of how great or easy or better the spread system is for the competition you have lost the attention of pretty much everyone it's aimed at... and this competition is open to everyone even if they don't understand or give a crap about the NFL!

Although come mid season if you're at the bottom of the barrel then bet all the dogs and pick 92-78 scores in the boner game every week and shoot for last.

I recommend that we also get "captains" from our "Sisters" group. A team would be something like one girl and 5 guys. I wanna be on Jaymee's team. The rest of you can be on Naang Faa's team.

Each week, the team's score is the sum of the guys' scores, multiplied by the girl's picks. Or we can do some other combo. I don't care.

Stogie has access to too many partners, though.

If we can't get a gender mix here, then let's just do some other pairing, like American & European (Australian = European; Canadian = European, too).

You have a OT who goes 6-7 and 315, and so freaking strong and one would first think they are juicing, but when you look at Jake, you can tell he isn't and is just naturally big and came by his brute strength the honest way, through hard work.
