As of yesterday the locals here in Cambodia were getting their lamps and pitchforks ready and the Thai embassy is being guarded round the clock.
Hopefully, it'll blow over but Khmers are a volatile lot and all it'll take is a rabble rousing speech from Hun Sen for them to take to the streets again and burn out all Thai owned businesses etc as they did 5 years ago over the 'Thais built Angkor Wat' incident.
I'm told that most Thai expats in PP have temporarily headed off to Thailand over the last 48 hours and the remainder are keeping their heads down.
Yesterdays Times estimated the Thai army as 300,000 strong and armed by America (whatever that means )
Cambodia only 100,000 but many battle hardened Kymer Rouge , who aparently can do magic spells (the Times did not say the magic spells bit , a ladyboy told me that )
I will take the peaceful attitude and hope for a negotiated settlement that should last until the next Mexican stand off .
