Moving to Dubai...

Hey,

I may be moving to Dubai for work, I wanted to get any info or tips anyone has about any sort of scene in Dubai or countries close by.  Feel free to throw any and all info or thoughts you may have.  It is all appreciated.

A lot of people love the place, I go twice a year and Dave's right, the best thing about it is it's only 6 hours from BKK, which is great as long as your more than 6 hours away now

I worked in Abu Dhabi for a while and was in Dubai frequently. there is a LB scene but mostly the "girls" are fillipino, work off vice sisters and are pang mak mak.....

i stay out of the fucking Arab countries as much as i can .They still get every time i fill up the car !!!

It beats the 20+ hour flight from NY. Just annoys me to go to a psuedo dry country.

I have lived in Dubai for 5 years, and its absolutely not dry, the nightlife is terrific. The GG scene is very alive, I read somewhere that there is an estimated 50.000 prostitutes in Dubai at any time. Mostly Chinese, african and russian/-stan countries. I have heard some rumours about LBs, but this is very touchy, as the penalty for a man dressing in female clothes is i think is 3 months in jail followed by deportation.
I say go for it, allthoug it is getting quite expensive there, and working there can be frustrating at times.

I hated Dubai.

Go for the Metropolitan Hotel (the 3 star one) , they have an inhouse disco with lots of GG whores there.

Don't tell your colleagues the name of your hotel though, because the place is quite infamous.

While the locals can almost do anything they please, I would be careful as a foreigner and even more careful doing LBs, I think there is a penalty in the UAE for man2man sex...

Lived there/here for over 20 years. Like anywhere, it has its crap and it has its good points.

The Rattlesnake does have gas cookers but so too do Jockeys, the York, Staying Alive (is it still called that?), Pancho's, Seaview, Imperial etc etc.

As for ladyboys, it's a tough one to crack. A few around but naturally very suspicious.

Still, 20 years of not paying tax has kind of coloured my view... and it allows me to live for some of the year in Thailand so I'm probably the wrong person to ask!
