Hot towel shave

Dont shave often guys, but when I do I like a hot towel shave, with the old cut throat.Had one in My hotel last trip & was lucky to have a face left afterwards. Any ideas guys, as I would like to keep as clean shaven as possible this trip.

There is nothing like a good old fashioned shave with a straight edge razor that they keep in tip top shape. Hot towels to lubricate the skin, two dollops of a good shaving cream, a straight edge razor and more hot towels after the shave. Finish up with a nice lotion and a quick facial massage and man do I feel like a new person. So far my efforts to duplicate that experiance in Bangkok have been a waste of time and Baht. Sure, there are barber shops that advertise a "shave" but all you get is a quick lube of the beard then a shave with a throw away razor, even against the grain of the beard and a quick finish off with a wet towel. If your lucky the after shave lotion will not sting too much. All that for the paltry sum of 150 to 180 Baht. I would gladly fork over 400 to 600 Baht to get the "real deal." I do believe that if you go to the Oriental Hotel you can get this type of shave or so I was told a number of years back. Hell at this point I would open a shop that gives this type of shave, have a guy who knows this business come over and train myself and the staff and I would be booked solid six days a week.

Don't ask me, the only close shave I have had was avoiding the previous night's date......

Do the barber shop's still ask the foreign guys would they like "sensation" with their haircut?

You guys think you have it so bad with just your face to keep shaved. Just the other day while in a store my gf and I was looking at some shaving products. Great day.......almost $30 for 4 or 5 lousy razor blades.............for some razors. Even disposables are high, and I quit using them years ago, as they just were too prone to also making you eligible to need a blood transfusion as well. Considering the price of razors and the frequency used and consumed in the long term of things lazer hair removal is not all that expensive. I bet most here could have paid for Lazer removal 2x or more already.

I seen they also make a powder that supposedly removes facial hair as well.

i went to buy razors replacements for my mach 3 the other day in boots they said the price had gone up the fucking 5 replacements now cost 13.99 euros, i told them to stick them up their cunts and i walked out the door.

As an aside that wont help you at all Seamus.....

We were in Sri Lanka and India for 4 months a couple of years ago and while both countries provide cheap and unbelievably good hot towel shaves. Sri Lanka was king...

I would have a shave and a haircut three times a week while in the South of Sri Lanka.

The whole process would take 40 mins to an hour. The closest shaves I have eaver had, happy to accommodate any amount of picky-ness in terms of beard trimming/shaping.

This also included shaving ears/trimming nose hair

Then a head shave, back/shoulder massage and after shave lotion.

All for about 30TBT

I'd go back just for that - it wouldnt be for the lb's we never saw...
