You can see a lot more of that kind of stuff about Thailand by Phil Williams at www.ajarn.com.
It's useful, funny and a great way to pass the time.

Great link, had to laugh as my first trip ever to los started and ended in khao san rd.
First night, three up in a cheap room, two single type beds and a camp bed in the middle. We had a good time and met a lot of fucking pricks living a so called dream, waiting to go back to reality!!
Went back down khao san 2 years back ,and i've never seen so many fucking idiots in one place in all my life. Ten years ago was different to today, now they are all pricks!
I'm not sticking up for the older hippies, honest!
just pisses me off when some little shit or shittess trys to tell you how it is ,how hard core they are, when you have been going to los, since they were in primary school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i'm going where the sun keeps shining.................

I think you have a point so i will button it
It's a difficult one for me because i have always independently travelled, but never felt the need to go tie dye, dreadlocks and all that.
But on the other hand, they all grow up to be respectable citizens
But you are certainly right travel does broaden one horizens!
i'm buttoning it now naang!i'm going where the sun keeps shining.................

Hate to flog an old horse...especially as this thread is practically a year old and this is my first post...
...but i still like khaosan. (when i say khaosan...i mean the whole area, not necessarily that road). When I first went there about 7 years ago I detested it, as it reminded me of scenes from american 'spring break' films. Any subsequent trip to Thailand had khaosan as my base for a few days while i planned my trip out of bkk. The strange thing was that I started to enjoy myself. I liked eating in the street and just watching life go by, yes watching the odd couples and intriguing tourists. I've never been one to spend huge amounts of money on accommodation. I'd much rather spend that money on food and entertainment, so khaosan fit the bill quite nicely.
I really don't think that it's taht full of people trying "to find themselves". India is far far worse!
And in keeping with this board...not too sure when the last time anyone was there, but as the night rolls on, the lbs all come out and ply their trade. In fact, this was how i lost my lb virginity. first and only experience. so thank you khaosan!

sat back sipping my beer on Khao San road a few weeks ago and enoyed the sideshow of 2 farangs fighting 6 LBs armed with stilettos (the shoes - not the knives. Having said that, the shoes looked just as dangerous)
there are fun and interesting times to be had everywhere in Thailand
Also, my Pad Thai and BBQ Pork was free - wooohoooNo honey, no money!!
