  • The Thaksins have left the building!

The Thaksins (well, the missus) have been sentenced to three years in jail and they have been set bail at less than 1% of what they were found guilty of ripping off the public purse!

    Are they gone for good?

I reckon they've gone for at least a year!

I don't really understand why he took the risk of coming back in the first place.

Lots of nice places to live without extradition treaties where he can live well with his boatload of money.

I just read the report in the on-line Bangkok Post

              Read All About It

Do they seriously expect us to believe that the Thai authorities have any intention of enforcing a custodial sentence on Mr & Mrs Thaksin in one of Bangkok's ''luxurious'' correctional establishments

Presumably there is no extradition treaty in place with China    either that or when they return the appeal process takes forever.

His passport was rescinded a couple of weeks ago. He would have to flee as a fugitive. New charges were files against him today, I believe, on the EXIM/Burma scandal. He still has a boatload of other charges to face, for which he has already been indicted.

This is just the judiciary's answer to Thaksin's pet prime minister trying to rush through amendments to the thai constitution.

For those that don't know, the current PM is Thaksin's hired-hand, his main pre-occupation being to clear Thaksin and get him his confiscated cash back. That is partly why the thai economy has been roller-coastering lately. The govt. has more time for helping Mr T out than looking after Thailand.

The courts are now stepping in with some symbolic sentences, to make it clear that whatever the PM does, Thaksin is out! But in reality all of these sentences will be appealed well into the next decade. No one will be going to jail soon. But Mr T will not be allowed to stand for office having received a prison sentence.

It's all like some kind of 3D power chess game. Watch and enjoy.

I hope they're preparing a double cell for these parasites. This is just one of many cases being brought against his whole family, over coming Months.
His regime and the current PPP mobsters have left Thailand with massive social divisions, corrupt government members, failed policies and the poor people who voted for them have to look at Potjaman flying around the World in her designer clothes, handbags, shoes and jewelery as they accept 100 baht to vote for his goons.
I hope they learn this time or Thailand may fall apart with the North and South facing off.Sounds familiar, to U.S. history buffs?
As for Man City, hopefully he won't be able to afford it once they have made him pay his taxes. He only did it to look good in front of the soccer mad Thais.

I certainly hope the plug is not pulled on the Manchester City finances (although I fear they shall be eventually) Being a United supporter, I am all in favour of nail biting competitive football especially with our neighbours, eventhough those blue bastards did the double over the mighty reds last campaign

Wichit Plungsrikul, a legal advisor of the People Power Party, confirmed Monday that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife, Khunying Pojaman, had reached England Sunday night.

Wichit said Thaksin's lawyers were meeting to draft a statement to give to the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions.

The couple were supposed to attend the first hearing on the trial of the Ratchadapisek land purchase Monday morning. Wichit said the statement would be submitted to the court in the afternoon.
