As of late.   I'm becoming more and more of a T.V. buff.
     A couple of months ago I found a show called;
Bizzare Foods on the Travel Channel.

I LOVE IT.     This guy eats all kinds of stuff I'd never even think of eating unless I'm dieing of hunger.

Goat testicles.   Cow brains and every other brains imaginable.   etc,,,,etc,,,   Yaddda" Yaddda".
      Whale blubber,  seal,  Bull scrodum.

He is now in Thailand  Chaing Mai.     Eating Ox shit &
    Bug Salads.

Give me a Fucking CheeseBurger and Cracker Jacks.

Didn't like the "taste" of brain.

Some bugs are ok, some taste really bad, none of them are good imo.

Shit and testicles... I try nearly everything but thats too much.

Anyone knows that damn expensive coffee from beans eaten and shit out again by cats?

He ate some mess in Algeria which consisted of aged in the sun covered in flies grease from lamb along with well rotted and stinking lamb mixed in the co9ngealed grease mess which looked like a mass of butter. Had a local woman cook it up the next morning for his traditional Morocco breakfast type meal, and he only took one mouthfull and had problems swalling that.Never did touch another bit of it either.

The show that was done in Vietnam was perhaps the most weird and bizarre when it came to eating anything that moves or lays there.

Not in the USA........unless the meat is labeled as having such items in it. Not saying there is not places that would do it anyhow, but in general organ meats are not used in hamburgers in the states.

Speaking of hamburger how would this be for bizzare....Its a true story too. Local butcher kept finding weird holes in his big pan of ground hamburger. He thought for awhile it was rodents or something as such that was making these holes... but soon dissmissed that thought as well, since the meat was kept inthe cooler or display case and there was no way rodents etc could get to it.

Then one day he came in early only to find his 'hired help" making love to that huge pan full of fresh ground meat. His hired help would come in early or sometimes stay late to clean things up.......and also make love to the hamburger meat!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but did anyone watch some of those so called "Busted on the Job" videos? No telling what you may be eating in some places.....from snot and buggers to flem, to feces to love juice or urine. A food service employee is not a person to get mad at you.from cooks, bakers, meat cutters to waitresses to bus boys.

I love it when you talk dirty Kathy..

As for the program, nope never even heard of it, maybe it hasn't reached this side of the pond yet.

I'd eat anything if it was a life/death situation but whilst there's a Burger King on the planet there is no way you'd see me eating Ox shit & bug Salads.

I think I would rather eat ox shit and bug salad myself than eat in a Burger King here. In this great big old town there is only 3 BK's left and thats 3 too many.

Ever pay any attention to the commercials that BK has. They suck big time , and the plastic BK dude himself, well lets just say, he is a dam perverted individual. I would cut off his balls if I woke up and that son of a bitch was setting there on my bed next to me or looking im my window while he stands on a ladder, with that big phoney looking plastic smile of his. It took a real creep to design and come up with the entire BK line of commercials..and you wonder why they are hurting for business. For every other burger joint that opens three BK's shut down. In Monkeytown (MOntgomery, AL) pop 300,000+ there is only one BK left and its on its last legs, thankfully, but there must be 300 Mickey D's, as well as Sonics, Checkers, WhataBurger, Hardees, Arbys.

Yech, BK , you just made me

kathy what is your problem with burger king?

I don't eat in burger king or mcdonalds, but i would be lying if said i never had. Burger king is surely a bit better than mcdonalds?

You say stateside that burgers and sausages(mass produced) don't contain organ meat.
Not trying to pick a fight but do you really understand food labeling and what food labels mean?

I saw a few episodes, on Discovery Channel Travel & Leasure. At the beginning did seem quite fun but later started to be a bit yawny.
Besides, some of the food he sampled in some countries wasn't not weird at all...
I don't see much how a second season of this TV serial will be happening

First trip to thailand as a lowly backpacker tried a few different types of creepy crawly.
More of a bravado thing as there were six of us,and the male chivaly was at full flow. we ate scorpions, locusts, beetles and maggots.
Scorpions and beetles tasted like frazzels (british crisp a few years back that looked like small rashers of bacon) you use to be able to buy in the uk.
locust were f*u%king horrid, the legs get stuck in your teeth, and maggots tasteless. Only tried one maggot, which was offered by a thai costruction worker, who i was gawping at when he purchased his bag of maggots.

tried sheep nuts in africa, after going to a tabaski festival, actually quite nice just a litttle sweeter.

as for the insects never again in less i have too, but least i know i would be able to.

I agree with looker that a lot of foods abroad are not that weird, just that we live in a land of pre packaged, pre frozen, pre shit food.
Even in england we don't or won't eat certain foods, yet half these foods are in cheap meat products.

I like offal, but most people i know will not touch any with a barge pole. A sign of the times. Most kids today think that food comes from factorys? what hope is there!
It was not that long ago in uk that we ate most of the animal, now just the expensive bits.

I always remeber a line from the book the killing fields, the book was about cambodia and pol pots regime

if it has 2 legs and it is not a ladder eat it, if it has four legs and it is not a table eat it and if it can fly and it is'nt a plane eat it..........

                          But they were hungry...........

BK here just plain sucks. They (employees and management) could care less about how and what they serve, how they serve it and what customers say. Its readily apparent BK sucks since its in such a rapid decline where others are adding to the already established lineup. When you continuously get wilted brown lettuce, ice cold burgers, ice gold and old greasey tasting french fries and soft drinks that have been watered down they loose all affiliated taste, and soggy onion rings, you soon learn if yu want hot and decent looking and tasteing burgers etc its not BK that you want to patronize. Its pretty apparent that I am not the only one that feels that BK is just a screwed up fast food chain, not that they all are not screwed to some extent, but BK seems to have the monopoly on it. The quality of food has always been a lot lower with BK than even Mickey D's here. Its really pretty bad when one of the BK's was on a military installation here (Pensacola Naval Air Station) and the U S Navy refused to renew BK's contract on base as a fast food vendor...........and What a Burger now resides in what used to be the old BK building.

Last nigh on TV Bizzare Foods was on again with Andrew Zimmern. Almost tossed my cookies when they were cleaning and cooking an Armadillo. My god man, how can anyone eat that stuff. They are nasty animals for sure and they are all over the place here digging up lawns and mainly roadkill. You can smell em a mile away. We call em oppossum on the half shell.

FDA and USDA (Food Drug Admin & United States Dept Agridculture) both have strict guidlines on what can be placed in foods, and organ meat is not one of the items that is allowed to be used in hamburger meat. They may scrape the bones and use the worst cuts of meat to make it but its 100% organ meat free. NOw when it comes to sausage, of ocurse there is organ meats in it, as thats all part and parcel of adding flavor to the sausage. Sausage is not just plain ground meat, whereas ground meat is all 100% ground meats without organ or other byproducts added.

                            What I said was:
"Not in the USA........unless the meat is labeled as having such items in it. Not saying there is not places that would do it anyhow, but in general organ meats are not used in hamburgers in the states." I mentioned hamburgers specifically, not sausage, and once again ground meat does not sausage make nor does ground up organ meat does not hamburger meat make. Sausage and ground meat are two different things entirely here in the USA. And all sausage does not necessarily have to have organ meat in it either, as it can be a mix of pork and beef herbs and spices free of organ meat. If it or any other item has organ meat in it and its for human consumption, by law its required to be labeled as such.

I remember my grandmother and parents cooking what was called scrapple, and its still made and available today, although its mainly a northern food, it is now available in the south prepackaged. Is basically made from whatever "scraps and meat residues were left over at the end of a day in the butcher shop or slaughter house. It is not unusual to find some hair or a pice of hoof or what have you in the real home made stuff. Its got spices added and is normally pan fried and served with maple syrup over it as a main course or for breakfast. It is common up north for folks to fry a slice or two and make a sandwhich out of it. Or take good old souse, or hogs head cheese........gross looking as ait contains everyhting but the kitchen sink form a days slaughter but its fantastic tasting.

Isn't offal the contents of sheep or cows stomachs?

Kathy sorry if i was obnoxious in my previous two posts.
                              Did not mean to be!

Offal in the uk is classed as organ meat; liver, kidneys, heart, brain, glands etc.

In europe we still eat a lot of offal, but mainly people who have been bought up around food or know the meaning of real food, italian, french and so on.
A lot of younger english would run a mile, if it was not packaged and microwavable. I'm on the young side, but was made to eat different foods whilst growing up and have a love for food and cooking now because of it.

A lot of people eat black pudding, which is made with coagluated pigs blood, very nice to eat,but they stop as soon as they find out what it's made from, yet they have been eating for years previous

stomach linings, are probably classed as offal but not sure. I personaly don't like to see an animal that has given it,s life to the table wasted, but thats just me......

                              Again sorry
i'm going where the sun keeps shining.................
