Who's the dirtiest

To go along with the Best Footballer thread, how about the dirtiest player you've ever seen? Like the other thread, though, it must be someone you've actually seen. Telly doesn't count!

I'll get it started with a heavyweight double - Joe Jordan of Man United and Willie Young of Arsenal. For those too young to remember, Joe was a striker and Willie was a stopper, both were Scottish hard men - and they were both fairly, let's say industrial in their playing style. I saw them have some titanic battles that would have got them sent off for sure in these more regulated and more televised times.

One time they both went up together for a Man U corner, and Joe elbowed Willie right in the face. The entire North Bank winced. The ref didn't spot it, so no free kick, the ball was cleared upfield and while Joe was still on his knees, Willie retaliated by kneeing Joe hard on the back of his skull as he ran past. Great stuff!

Good thread and is this why I dont like the comparisons between who was the "better" Player between George Best And Christiano Ronaldo.

Georgie Boy had to put up with the muddy pitches, the heavier Footballs and Boots before having to face these "proper" Hard Guys plus his err "Diet" of "Sex, Booze and more Sex"

Many reasons not to like TO but I wouldn't consider him a particularly dirty player.

Hell, Romanowski spit in a guys face.

Many say Conrad Dobler was the dirtiest but I don't really remember his antics too well.

Jack Tatum was pretty dirty too.

There were some thugs playing in the Southampton defence in the early 70's - I could nominate several of them.

But by a short head, Australian international (that must be a joke)  .... Kevin Muscat is my choice.  Played for Wolves, then briefly Glasgow Rangers.  Said to be one of the most hated footballers of his time ...  but then so was Vinny, Norman Hunter, etc.

The best move I ever saw Muscat make was to elbow Bergkamp in the face.   That improved his reputation in my eyes

The nigerian national team 6 years ago, does this count,it was an african nations qualifyer. For an indivdual i would say vinney jones. Although a lot dirtier players i have not seen live.
