Some of those soccer boys do look cute running round in their knee high socks and short pants. Maybe I should try to watch it more. I'm just concerned with how Brocky would define me if I did

Still think Rugby should have more appeal...I can just imagine what goes on in the middle of those scrums.

Very difficult to nominate the best player ever More than anything it is probably about who is able to consistently maintain an exceptionally high standard over their entire career.
My favourite player (possibly the best) and the one who inspired Manchester United to start winning English Championships again following a 26 year wait was:-
Eric Cantona He was perhaps the most influential footballer in English football of the 1990s manytimes the impact he had on the outcome of a match was astonishing including that time he ''kung fu'' kicked a supporter at Crystal Palace for giving him verbal abuse following a red card
A unique talent that was for sure.

          My choice was a Frenchman.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic perhaps needs to play in the Premier league to showcase his talent, after all apart from the radies, who else bothers watching that boring Seria A stuff.
But yes Sweden were lucky his parents emigrated there from Bosnia/Croatia.

And Maradona was a cheat, we English shall never forgive him

Oh please, that´s 20 years ago now. You need to get over it. Besides it was a masterpiece.

It's not a thread, "who was the best ever", it is a thread who's the best player you have seen live in a football stadium.
              Be lucky,have fun & stay young !

Lol, ok ok. But you irish/brit boys would still be mentioning some Ian Rush or Fowler.

                    Hey seanbean,
nothing wrong with them, just nowhere near "best of all times". I liked Ian´s pornmovie moustache though

I have even seen Georgie Best play for Stockport County in his latter years and he was still a class above the rest

Saw Georgie play five feet from me on the same pitch in the same stadium but for the opposing team - so there
