Pickpockets - What's YOUR story?

Dear all,

Some time ago I went to some lounge filled with LB.

Talked with some of them and noticed a girl trying to steal my wallet.

Took her hand and told her if she ever do that again to me or others she most likely have to go to a hospital to rebuild her face.

OK I warned her and i hope she not do again but I just tell you.



Yes I was drunk but not too drunk to feel what whas happening.

Please all take care your wallet.

If anyone has dropped into this thread hoping to read up on pickpockets let me add my own warning.

The children who are out all night selling in the beerbars, restaurants, etc are not to be trusted - they are the cleverest pp's going, using their childish charm to get right into your personal space & get their thieving little fingers into your pocket, bag, etc.

Under the guise of offering you a rose for the lady, their main line at 2 in the morning, they take advantage of many unsuspecting falangs, making a very handsome income from their prying little hands.

Even after I was awake up to them, they got me one night in Soi Bangla in Phuket.

Drove my companion back to her place & had to leave her when I discovered my cash missing, taken from my front pocket by a 4 year old.

And imagine the scene if you went to give one a clip, it would be considered an insult to the country.

A mate in Bangkok had 50 taxi drivers waiting to kill him one night after he picked up an 8 y.o. flower seller & placed him in the small garden at the front of the hotel.

Yes we were drunk & sorry Kahuna, I can't give you any names - it was a long time ago.

The simple message is BE AWARE !!

Having your pockets filched by a dexterous dame from 'the dark side' is pretty much one of the initiation ceremonies we all go through.

It happened to me also...

I was wandering down Sukhumvit with some football chums and had a 'cuddle' from a n opportunistic ladyboy. I quickly realised my measly cash stash was missing.

Knowing my mates wouldn't lend me a dime or buy me a drink I foolishly raced back down the road, floored her and started shouting at her whilst pinning her down...

Up came an arm with my crumpled notes on one end which I readopted and we parted as friends!

(By the way - now that I've been here a while I would probably NOT react in the same way again. That was just asking for trouble which I was lucky enough to avoid that time.)

I once crossed the road with a LB's hand in my back pocket half the way.

I just looked at her and smiled.

I was once pickpocketed on Sukhumvit some 10 years ago. Since then I have wised up and if I go to those areas then just carry cash and the necessary.

my theory as well, just carry the cash you can afford to loose...
