    ANZAC  DAY

To all us Aussies and Kiwis today is ANZAC Day when we remember those who fell in the World Wars and all wars since.

I hate wars and especially the shit going on in Iraq.

I 'm a party boy and party hard as the next man but when i reflect on all the bad shit man does to each other I remember ANZAC day and the long lost relatives that fought in wars past to make life better for all of us.

    LEST WE FORGET.

    Anzac Day

I sometimes think that all countries should do like the UK - the national war memorial is just at the end of the road where the Prime Minister lives - they have to drive past it every morning to go to work.

Hopefully it reminds them what happens when they get it wrong

Eric Bogle's classic lyrics still bring a tear to my eye

His song is destined to be remembered as one the greatest anti-war songs ever written.

His own version is equally as powerful as this, his is both upsetting & unsettling.

Having both of my grandfathers wounded at Gallipoli makes it very personal.

                Lest we forget.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

My Grandfather was an ANZAC and while up at the River Kwai a couple of years ago, I took a few snaps which are perhaps suitable for this thread.

I visited the River Kwai in 2001 but didn't get to the War Cemetries to pay my respect as I was with 10 other guys and they weren't interested

My Grandfather fought in Burma for years against the Japanese and fortunately he survived for me to have fond memories and times with him

I asked him a few times about his time in Burma but this was one subject he would "never" discuss
