XE Currency exchange...

Thanks for the info...I use the google toolbar for esy search and spell check fetures but didn't know you could perform simple currency conversions...

I still don't get why  XE is always "off" a bit every time

     I will owe someone say 50K baht ...... so I check XE, they say it's about  1700 US  [changes daily of course, usually lower  grrrrr] and I send that and I am light by 5K baht or so ...... so the next time  will send 1900US and they tell me "hey, you sent too much!"   Then she says   "It's not enough, me going back to work bar now".     Damn, I hate it when THAT happens      

        It seems like guesswork to me since currency fluctuations happen so often.....  but is indeed pretty close for the most part.

That's what is currently happening when you search for something - you might need to do a bit of tweaking squire!

my first trip to 'Nam in 98 it was about 1.4 million to 100 [see, our currency DOES rise against some people! 3rd-world or not  heh].  I cashed in 100 bucks and was walking around with 2 pocketfuls, think about how much 1.4 million is in cold currency!  When the largest bill is only 50K .....makes you feel like a target.

Now, like everywhere, Vietnam has wide acceptance of Visa and ATM's all over

Grrrrr ...... my first travels there it was around 44 ..... a few years before that it was at 55!!

good thing I am not going back anytime soon I guess, I have a lot of stuff going on here anyway and the exchange is horrible. unfortunately though some friends and co-workers were casualties of the weak dollar and lost their jobs, never a pleasant thing to see.

Before the US economy drags itself out of the recession it is heading into now, expect it to get much worse.

I am tempted to mention a figure but no-one really knows just how bad it can get.

And the ramifications of all this turmoil are not fully understood, just don't expect things to stay the same.

Hi Dave, best place to check for in county LOS currency exchange rates are the Thai banks themselves.

Bangkok Bank website: Bangkok Bank

GBP buy 60.96 sell 62.68 Baht.

If you were to send a wire transfer direct to the account you may get a better exchange rate, but check the bank fees on both sides (sending and receiving banks) to make sure you come out ahead compared to Western Union.

 I do normally only use "Cash" when I go to los so I'm hoping the baht is more near to the 68-70 level to the £ when I go back in May as it was in November when I got 70 baht to the £

I went to the Co-Op Travel this morning and was suggested to use this for sending money to "er indoors"
