  • Now here's a good idea

    http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/18/asia/react.php

Not only should the Chinese Govt be called on the carpet for the recent actions in Tibet, but for their horrible human rights records over the years as well. A dictatorial government with no freedom of press or speech should not be allowed to hold an olympics.

Why should the Chinese be held accountable for chasing off a few Tibetan trouble makers?

I'd be a bit more concerned about all the poison they are shipping to the West each day in toothpaste and dog food.

And who gives a rats arse about the Olympics in this day and age... I mean - synchronized swimming? And what the fuck is Rhythmic gymnastics? Come on!

Bunch of lonely wankers trying to get on telly is about all it is.

The UK Government will not do anything to upset the Chinese. They are too worried about a boycott of the 2012 London Olympics.

This was tried in 1980 and it really didn't make any difference for the USSR (old Russia) pulling out of Afghanistan any sooner than they eventually did. (strange how that all works out!). Of course this lead to the 1984 boycott of the LA Olympic games by USSR - so two consecutive summer Olympic games did not live up to the billing.

Boycotting the opening ceremonies is an interesting idea though and it will be fascinating to see if principles will be trumped by $$$$$$$.

well, mainly because they just kinda swallowed up that lovely little country in 1959 and the people there had no say!!

I like the idea also RX, boycotting the opening ceremonies would ruin the party for the Chinese, about as much as Jesse Owens did for 'Dolf in '36.

''Consequently, naturalized U.S. citizens are not eligible to become President of the United States or Vice President of the United States.'' Anyone who wants to be prez here must be born on US soil.

Read, than you know where the Dalai Lama.....

                    from CNN

"The Dalai Lama, who threatened Tuesday to resign as leader of Tibet's government-in-exile if the violence got out of control, met Wednesday with leaders of several Tibetan activist groups. The younger activists, in defiance of their pacifist spiritual leader, demand Tibetan independence and are hoping to derail the Beijing Olympics.  Watch first independent video of the violence in Lhasa"

Chinese in Uproar as Dalai Lama to meet Gordon Brown in London:

                          The Telegraph:
The Prime Minister Gordon Brown today delighted Tibetan exile groups and ended months of speculation by saying he would meet the Dalai Lama during his visit to Britain in May.

I hate the thin-skinned bastards who run Red China.

As SB said, "those fucks can't even make dog food!"

                            The Olympics are over-rated anyway.

If the Red Chinese masters can't treat their own subjects with basic human respect, fuck them. They can have their dumb games without us.

The thing is, The Chinese are now one of the world powers whether we like it or not .....  always militarily  and soon economically as well, they are coming make no mistake about it.  Truman and Marshall had their chance in the 40's to keep out the commies and have some type of a democracy in there and they blew it, now as   Reverand Wright would say  "The chickens have come home to roost"  heh heh.

Olympics being fuck-all or not,  this is their chance to be on the world stage and prove that they belong up there with the  UK's and the Australia's and USA's and France's of the world and out of that misreable 3rd-world status they have been in for centuries;  I say we disrupt that stage as much as possible by ruining these fucking games and showing the world how dictatorial and anti-human rights they are there.

Of course I will boycott these games, I could care less, but it would be cool if the whole world did.
