I'm willing to bet that our Aussie hero doesn't even finish the race, let alone win !

The race track is about 10 minutes drive from my place, (less in the Ferrari) so you can hear those engines whining.

Will be glad when they pack up & I can drive to work without the traffic jam.

    Cheers

      I hope it won't be a Ferrari!
I hate Ferrari, I hate FIAT and I hate that arrogant pathetic hair-tosser dandy of Montezemolo.
Do only what you think it's good for you, and not what others think should be good for you!

My brother loves F1. Personally for me it's like watching tennis or golf... except it's noisier.

Formula 1 has to be the most over-rated sport on the planet..
I'd rather sit in the middle of Victory Monument and watch the
cars go by....at least theres a chance a friend or two will drive past
          and give a little wave...

            I agree.

I would rather be doing the driving, top down with a beautiful lady riding shotgun.

                Yes, great start for Lewis

On my most recent trip, I purchased fifty Mclaren F1 jackets from in Pattaya with Lewis Hamilton and the union jack embroided on the back in large and front in small letters, (500 Baht each or £8.00)
Sold them all to a mate who runs a market stall for £26.00 (or 1600 Baht)
Returning me the profit to cover my business class air ticket to Bangkok on China Airlines via Amsterdam.
Only problem was that I left all my own luggage in Pattaya and of course had customs collared me, they would have been confiscated or at best I would have been required to pay a fine plus the duty.

Formula One is great if your at the track otherwise unless you understand the technical nuances for the cars and the strategy , its can be like watching paint dry.

I stopped going when the late great Senna got killed.
At least then it was a bit more like Ben Hur and i remember when he tried to kill Prost at Japan when he ploughed into him at the first bend...

I was at Spa Francochamps at Eau Rouge when Senna came out the pits and aimed his car at the passing Shumacher,,,, Shumacher mounted the grass and nearly plunged into the stadium...this moment was never captured on TV..

Senna was a madman but a great one. We need more deaths to spice it up...to lame and safe now..

Why not just video tape the first 5 mins and watch it over and over , it saves time
Free your mind and your ass will follow .

Its not over rated, its just that you dont like it. There are a hundred sports that i dont like so i dont watch them....simple..

Not really Surferboy,it's just a bit daft to spoil a thread just because i don't see
                            the beauty of the subject..
                            It's only sport,and one i don't have a clue about.For all i know if i took in what Tomcat
said and learned about the strategy's of the sport i might find it interesting..
but still not as much fun as watching BKK traffic for passing friends

I would disagree that you were "spoiling a thread"... just offering an alternative, and widely held, viewpoint.

You suggest that by learning more about a subject, you might come to appreciate it, a la Cat Stevens and his descent into sixth century morality and monotheistic madness. This may be true to an extent, but the corollary is false, as someone who enjoys something is not necessarily knowledgable about it.

No thread should be nothing but glowing praise about its subject, for fear of spoiling it for a hypersensitive priss.
