I'm not too sure going after Greenberg was a 'good thing' -- he built AIG and he ran it the way he did too make sure employees interests matched the companies, as opposed to just making themselves a few bucks. The company has lost 40% of its value since he was forced out.
( For the record, I owned AIG stock and sold out just before this happened)
As for Grasso, I'm not sure what he did was illegal, unethical-sure, but its the NYSE board of directors that approved his ridiculous salary , they were idiots - but taking advantages of idiots (in this case) wasn't illegal.
