Council tax bills in England are set to go up by an average of 3.9% - the lowest rise for 14 years, says the public accountancy institute, Cipfa.

Cipfa's survey for BBC Radio 4's Today programme and the Times newspaper showed average bills for a Band D home will go up by £52 a year to £1,370.

The government had said it wanted council tax rises substantially below 5% - and most councils complied.

£1,370? That's about 100,000 baht! That's how much you pay each year to have your fucking trash picked up?

Absolutely insane. There's no way I could ever afford to live in that country in any degree of comfort.

Put them down i say or sterilise them. If you dont work then you dont fucking eat...If you get ill then you just do the decent thing and drop dead as far as im concerned

Yep, need we need reminding about rip off Britain where the law abiding good citizens among us finance the millions of scroungers on benefit as well as the goodness knows how many zillions of illegal and legal immigrants.
Not to mention the soaring motoring costs coupled with speed cameras every couple of miles I'm not going to carry on, it's too depressing

The latest scam from April is that in 5 council districts a pilot scheme starts which allows them to use CCTV evidence to fine you for motoring offences.

So, for example,  if you park more than 18 inches from the kerb or wait in a control box at the junction before turning right then expect a £60 fine in the post.

After the 'successful' pilot scheme it will be introducted in every district in England (Scotland, N Ireland & Wales are exempt).

The panel was established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), two organizations of the United Nations.


The IPCC has been called the IPCC...not the IPGW...since it was formed in 1988

Yes , inaccurate to put it mildly.

Bjorn Lomborg , the orginal Global Warming sceptic just publised a book called " Cool it".  He is the guy that the Doc makers love to quote when trying to disprove global warming....The words cool it are not to be taken literally though.

He states that warming is definately a problem and the damage will be substantial to the sum of around 15 trillion dollars".

Parts of the planet will cool , for sure, but on average it will increase.

Well, it's certainly colder in my room.

Anyway - I can't blame the councils for 'global warming'. In Thailand cycling is an art form. All glass, plastic and other stuff is recycled the moment it hits the bin by the bin men.

If it really was recyclable then it is recycled. Don't need CCTV cameras and computer controlled dustbins over here.
