    I remember watching the Ed Sullivan Show & actually saw this clip the first time it was aired.

It was such a big deal & they were all talking about it at school the next day.

Can you imagine the place was divided between those who were allowed to stay up to watch & those whose parents banned it.

We were just kids but 3 years later I saw the Stones play an open air concert at the cricket ground & Jagger walked on stage wearing cricket pads.

Some famous old American blues muso sat on the side of the band right through the show just clapping in time.

I can't recall his name, but I kept expecting him to join in on a number but apparantly they just liked to have him around.

There was no numbered seating, we sat on the grass & felt short-changed that we couldn't get closer than 10 metres from the stage.

School rules meant we had short back & sides & were painfully uncool, but you just don't forget a day like that.
