  • A lot like love!

I don't go to the movies more than once or twice a year and reading other peoples opinions of movies (reviews) just confirms (to me, at least) that people in the business of entertainment have no idea what actually entertains normal people!

So; I end up downloading movies from the internet and making my own calls.

Usually what I do is find a movie that I might be interested in downloading and then going to the IMDB.com to read up on it.

If I like a bit of what I read then I'll download the flick and maybe watch it!

Tonight I watched "A Lot Like Love."

Fantastic movie! The American 'Notting Hill!'

I laughed and cried throughout the whole thing. Fantastic!

Anyway - this brings me to what I want to know from my fellow chums in cyberspace...

What recent movies have moved you guys recently and why?

Billy Jaffe, Radio Voice of the Thrashers:
”I have absolutely No problem with Ohio State. It has a beautiful campus, and for a Junior College it has really great Academics.”

"Gentlemen and ladies, 'Those Who Stay Will Be Champions' is for you too. It's for every Michigan fan that's out there. When the going gets tough, you don't cut and run. It's not the Michigan way. If I heard it once from the old man, I heard it a thousand times -- when the going gets tough you find out who your real friends are, and that's why we must stay. Because there will be championships, and this staff and these kids will bring those championships here."

..... at "Tom Yam Goong" Jin Xing, the famous Chinese TS played the role of the mafia boss Madame Rose.
Indeed quite entertaining - excellent action, but a mediocre, very Thai-style storytelling.

I usually hang out with the critters (son, daughter) and watch cheesy movies, and a week or so ago, my son brought home "Thai Warrior" with this cat named Ong-Bak. Absolutely friggin awesome. Really honest looking fight scenes, not like the Jet-Le, Jackie Chan scripted crap. I'm not into kung-fu type movies, but I can't recommend this one enough. When this guy makes his first defensive move I swear you'll be hooked. Kids spent a couple of days kicking the shit outta me. I'd watch this guy before anyone else. Bruce Lee included.
Oh yeah, last time in BKK, I misread a movie time, and we ended up seeing "Kung Fu Rumble" instead. What a hoot this movie is. Nothing like being in a dark theater with a ladyboy screaming with laughter. Really well done with a quirky story line. Both of these are in the collection.

randy the guy in ong bak is the same one in tom yumm goong. called tony jaa i reckon he is better than jet li and jackie chan and he does all his own stunts.
i have ong bak at home the double disc and disc 2 show him doing a few of the stunts and it also as a docco on muay thai that is very interesting.

Yes, we LB Lover's are about as Normal as they come.

Totally understand what your saying though, I've enjoyed many movies the critics hated. I wonder what they thought of the CRYING GAME ?
